Players like Jesse Hogan want to play at the MCG.

Not saying he won't leave, but my bet is it won't be to a Perth club.

This has always been my vibe too.

Plus his buggered back, that'd put you off flying every second week.

If this is true, we are to never EVER again recruit a top 20 draft pick who resides outside of Victoria.

We are too inept a club to retain talent.

Very interested to hear that Wayne Carey will spend some time with Jesse Hogan over the coming weeks. I believe Goodwin is behind it and its very much a Football mentoring role.. some instructional work.. forward line movement. I think its a good move, a bit unlike Melbourne, but its Goodwin again on the front foot.

Great news. Need to leave no stone unturned with his development. A Carey lead finishing school will do wonders. It will also help towards a "lock" at the negotiation table. Some decent wins between now and then also needed though. Go boys go! Just go and dont look back!

Langdon's got good mail.

He was the one that dropped the Worsfold to Essendon bomb-shell before anyone else.

I remember that and i strongly believe that was a guess. and far far different to this situation

Worsfold- as in his former captain? Bit of a different situation.

How is this any different.

I laugh at people that have a crack at others for saying what realistically could potentially happen in the next couple of years. Langdon is very good friends with Hogans manager so i have no doubt that maybe he has some information from them.

Just because he is still contracted for another year doesn't that can stop him from asking for a trade.

What doesn't add up, to me, is what has changed in a few months.  He happily signed on at the end of 2014 and, if he really wanted out, he could have gone to the club and demanded a trade.  Nothing happened.  He completed an excellent pre-season and is just starting to get back into form, giving no indication that he wants to be back in Perth at all costs.

Langdon has hit the mark before, but he's also been waaaaay off as well.  He is a Perth native who, of course, would want to see someone like Jesse come home.  I just can't take him all that seriously.

I'd suggest not for long if he gets told something and goes running his mouth about it on twitter, that doesn't help anyone, especially Jesse.

It's different because Woosha at the time had gone from not wanting to coach at all, to working at the crows and started to get some passion back, Hird right in the firing line, it wasn't a huge stretch

Jesse on the other hand, the public message we're getting is nothing but loyalty to the MFC, for him to leave would be a backflip on that, making it a very different situation, his manager said not that long again that Jesse is loyal to the MFC and now his " mate " is saying his next contract will be in Perth.

I'm not investing any emotion into Hogan. He's 50 50 at best to stay. He's the classic pay to play player. My guess is he's leaving and I don't believe it will ruin us

I agree, you need to thin what we could get for him. Surely would have to be decent. Obviously i want him to say, but you need to have a back up plan.

He'll either sign a massive deal with us at years end or he's gone. Pick 1 to 5 plus a quality player

Langdon does tend to get a lot right.   First time I've been worried about this -  but Scully situation turned out ok it in the end -  and we'll get good value if he does want a move.....

Hoges is contracted until end of season 2017. Would want Neale  plus a top 5 pick plus a first rounder the next year - so good is Hoges. Freo is ageing and could be on the decline. Why would he leave a club on the rise if his pay is ok. Plus Freo have to fit McCarthy and Hooker if they go there in the CAP. Cannot see it happening.

There is another Perth club you know.

Yes, but they already have quality tall forwards, would struggle to fit him in the CAP and would need to trade good players away to get picks to trade for Hogan. Cannot see WCE interested unless they are prepared to give up Kennedy which will not happen.

The reason why what Langdon says sounds like BS is because he says that if Hogan could be playing in Perth now he would be.

Fact is Hogan could be playing in Perth if he wanted to, yet he signed a contract extension towards the end of 2014.

Done the rounds on this one already (I think even on this thread). Darling and Kennedy still have enough footy left in them that it would make it really hard to fit him in now.

And I just can't see how they'd fit him under the cap.

Well its 2016 now not 2014. Things have changed in his life. We don't know whats currently going through his head compared to 2014 when he hadn't played a single game.

screw picks! 2 x A graders are needed if he leaves! we know that he will be a star. draftees are unreliable and take time.

i can't believe that i'm even entertaining the thought that he will leave... i don't think it will happen and i sure as hell don't want to see it happen. he's a good guy and has unlimited potential. for anyone suggesting that he's just here to get the big bucks, that is a real cynical way to look at the situation. he's been in melbourne for years now and has mates here and they are hopefully growing together. if we are still in our quagmire in a few years he'll go, but we should be sweet for the moment.

It was another strong season from McVee who spent most of his time mainly at half back but he also looked at home on a few occasions when he was moved into the midfield.
