The Incredible Hulk - Jesse Hogan

Featured Replies

I also like the way he doesnt overly celebrate his goals and run around like an idiot, jumper over his head type stuff......just a few low 5s and back pats and gets right on with it.....cool Jesse.

It's amazing that in his biggest haul game I felt he could've done better! Opposition defenders are already starting to realise how good he is and they're trying to stop his run at it and blocking him at contests. I hope the umpires are reviewing this as it's happening a lot in games.

But jeez we've gone a gem here. 22 goals in 11 games in his first playing year.

22 in 10, Pates ;)

Wonder if Jono Brown and Hogan could get together for a chat and a few training sessions.

Love Brown but much rather Wayne Carey.

Jono brown and jesse are already in contact and have had conversations similar to petracca and gray,

Would assume that the lack of kicking penetration is due to his lower back. As he gets stronger through his core and bulks up around it over the next couple of years it will improve dramatically.

Ive noticed he nearly always gets a goal early, often in the first few minutes....when the ball comes in hard and fast, perhaps they get caught off guard a bit early on...

It was also cos Jonesy hit him on the chest

Hogans only flaw is his kicking distance, which is something that can improve with time and strength, but at the end of the day I am not worried about him taking shots from 50 as he is incredibly reliable from inside 40m.

He has a presence and that is something rare from a 20 year old, I loved seeing him crash the pack in the last quarter and as he was jogging down the field keep looking back to make sure the St Kilda player was slow to get up.

Taylor isn't overrated at all, he's a gun.

He is. He cheats too much.

He's been very lucky over his journey.

Anyway, he's not a stopper.

Lonergan will take Hogan.

It's his competitiveness.

He's all about going again and getting the win.

he's also got quite skinny legs for such a big guy

i also reckon he is a little bow-legged which might explain his slightly odd running gait

a bit of weights work on his legs could make a big difference

body wise still a work in progress

Apologies if already mentioned elsewhere, but this reminded me of a couple of other things I saw at the game...

1. St Kilda defender spoils over the sideline and gives Jesse a little shove as he is running off. Jesse stopped dead, and gives the guy a "please tell me you did not just touch me?!" death stare!

2. Jesse crashes a pack after which a St Kilda guy stayed down hurt. As he is lying prone on the ground, the Hulkster runs over and gives him a good shove in the back, just to let him know about it!

Love him!

Hogan was again in the votes in the AFLCA player awards for round 11.

It's the third time in his first 10 games that both coaches have awarded him votes. Has any other player done this in their first 10 games ?

Cheats how? Taylor isn't always third man up, he has shut down a lot of key forwards. He can also go forward but what I like about him most is his ability to read the play and back himself to mark the ball which he does quite often rather than punch which can leave the ball in despute. We must be watching different games. Also reasonable disposal and a good decision maker.

Harry Taylor

2 x premiership player

2 x AA

Terrorised opposition forward lines for 170 games

Was chased hard by other clubs when last out of contract.

Has kicked 40 goals

I'd say he's very lucky....you idiot.

Jeez mate did he bang your missus?

I rate Taylor as one of the gun backman of the game. Hks ability to not only stop his opponent but also go forward and kick goals.

One of the weirdest post i have seen..

Keep it going Hogan...!! Lazy 5 goals mate.

It was good to see him get a couple of goals from guys hitting him on the chest...he didn't have to work as hard as other weeks.

On AFL 360 tonight Gerard and Slobbo asked each other "if you had the chance to pick any marquee player to build a team around who would it be?"

Slobbo went with Fyfe.

Gerard went with the Hulk.

Jesse will be one of the highest paid youngsters on his next contract and I hope it's the MFC paying it. If we're still serving up paltry efforts in two years time I'd be very concerned.

Great to focus on the positives like Hogan instead of the damn 40sec which the media have done to death!

One can only imagine players like Brayshaw, Viney, petracca, Salem,Tyson, toumpas kicking the ball to Hogan!

the media? What about Demonland? Maybe 500 posts each commenting with their original thoughts that they reckon we should have had players behind the ball, and that our leaders are bad and we suck etc

Meanwhile the biggest asset in the competition put on his first genuine display, Watts with one of his best games ever and a player we have been waiting 2.5 years for in the Toump finally arrived

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
