Cameron Ling and Matthew Richardson don't think so http://www.3aw.com.au/news/cameron-ling-and-matthew-richardson-says-melbourne-should-offer-jesse-hogan-a-contract-for-life-20150810-givjr0.html

Ling: "Hogan could be to Melbourne what legendary basketballer Michael Jordan was to the Chicago Bulls"

it's a tough gig in the medja game

gotta come up with something sensational every week to stay relevant

If the mfc offered jesse a 10 year deal at 1 mil plus would anyone on here object??

I think we should back-pay him with an apology for only offering $500k.

Seriously though, it might all come down to team balance and success over the duration. Fingers crossed that we'll have a real issue in managing the cap in the years to come due to all of or stars.

Part of me thinks (hopes) that if/when the time comes to get him to sign, the AFL might just be lurking secretly in the background to make sure he stays a dee.

How could anyone object, it's not like we have poached him from another team, or through FA....we have drafted this guy as an underage player .....I think his team mates wouldn't have a problem with it, which can be a downside to getting a highly paid player on a teams list....

He wears the number 1 and has been with us since he was 17... We all know he is worth it.

He is a " marquee player " which will result in people signing up for memberships and the sales of merchandise and numbers through the gates...If we loose this guy it will be the biggest mistake the MFC has ever made.

What would other teams be offering him? If Boyd is worth 1 mil/year for WB

Surely, some Godfather-like offer has already been put to him.

Best thing I've ever heard, lets hope it happens!

Im sure they will

As Carey said yesterday he is just a player that demands the ball and wants to be the one to kick the goals. I just love his contested marking work and every time the ball goes in his direction you are just so confident he will mark it. He run up still looks weird but he is one of the reasons I look forward to going to the footy.

You just have to pinch yourself that we have this guy and that he is so good already.

We should put together a demonland task force to find him a young dèes supporting woman in melbourne to shack up with, personally id like to see bitter and biffen play a big role in this. That could only end well.

No. Whatever it takes.

I'm sure there would be happy endings

Is it unwise to offer a 20 year deal?

Could we make him our Environmental Ambassador?

And he has got that natural football timing thing that you just can't teach. He instinctively knows when to body his opponent and how to give himself the advantage.

He is sort of the anti Col Sylvia who was always half a beat behind most others whereas Jesse is has it sussed well before everyone else.

Edit. And thanks for the clips HH. He is going to be making defenders look silly for a long time to come

Edit 2. And whilst I would like to have Cripps in Red and Blue is there a supporter in the comp who would rather have him than Hogan? Jesse has had the number one defender play on him since the first round, the best, strongest and most experienced of every team and has lowered their colours more often than not. Honestly just call the press conference, apologise for the delay and give him the rising star

Every week he seems to raise the bar of his abilities. 4 weeks left in his first season on playing on AFL defenders, what more can he achieve?

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
