More bad luck for (former demon) Ricky Petterd

for a while there i thought a broken leg was one of the hardest things to come back from. now it appears it's feet injuries.

ricky has been diagnosed with a lisfranc injury after 'pulling up sore' following the loss to footscray. such bad luck that kid.

i liked him when he was at the dees.

Terrible, I was happy to see him do well at another club.

Wish him a speedy recovery.

Unlucky for Petterd, I quite liked him. An ok player who showed some glimpses when he was here.

He was one of the first of Neeld's many victims. Always have a soft spot for ex-Dees who were delisted or traded for peanuts, but found a home elsewhere.

get well Ricky P, & good luck... always a 'D' in my mind.

Terrible news. Good honest kid who has never got a clear run at it so far. Lung sists, chronic achillies, now lisfranc, give the kid a break! Gee we have had our fair share through the club, Bartram, Pettard, Clark, Trengove.

That's horrible. Just look at what it did to Mitch Clark. It turned him into a Right [censored]. Hope Ricky has a better recovery than that.

Was always a fan of Ricky, and wasn't happy that our imbroglio of the time saw him leave.

I hope this is just a blip in his career.

I always thought Petterd was handy but nothing special as a player. But as a person I thought he was fantastic. His comments when he left the club were all class. He didn't whinge and responded that he understood the position the club was in and why they made the decision that they did. Good luck to the fella.

Well put La Dee. Ricky plays with a lot of heart.

I have always liked and respected Petterd, very different to Mutch Clucke

Agreed. I remember commenting at the time that a player taking responsibility for his own form was a refreshing change.

I too wish him well.

sorry to hear about ricky fan of him at mfc almost won the game for us agin the filth .Another neeld stuff up getting rid of him so we could keep cale and gis

I would hold Ricky as one of the best examples of a player the club failed with development. Had so many great attributes and seemed to be on the right path but could the club couldn't take him to the next level (one of so many). Was the right call at the time to move him on as he was one being suffocated by the Neeld era, was kinda hoping the Tigers could get his game up but it's sad to hear about this latest injury set back.

Wish him well in recovery.

Will always question why we delisted him. I've always rated him as a great player. I can only assume he was one of the many victims of the Neeld era. Hope he'll be alright.

Err we got rid of them two ya peanut.

If your going to sink the boots into Neeld atleast get it right.

Firm MCG is firm.

I love the place. Round 1 was great. But footy 4 days after the cricket world cup final was silly. They should've pushed the season back another week or as much as I hated it last year for the sake of the players a soft opening weekend at Etihad and interstate grounds might have been better.

As for Petterd. I'm glad he got a good run at it at Richmond. But for the sake of Richmond it's kind of not that bad that he's injured because Hardwick has a fascination with experienced battler types that makes Neale Daniher look like a chuck in the kids coach. The number of recycled and ex state league players with limited potential that the Tigers played against the Dogs was out of control. Hardwick can't seem to find kids to give a chance to and therefore he hasn't developed the list over the last few years and he is getting similar results to Daniher 04-06. I wish Petterd wasn't injured and a chance for selection, but he still hasn't got to that level where he's reliable week in week out against good opposition and that's the same for so many of Richmond's players.

thats basically how one of my tigers mates feels about Hardwick too, George.

He can't understand how you can have a full forward like Riewoldt who spends an inordinate amount of time pushing up to wing and half back as opposed to playing from the goal square and expect to win games.

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
