When Vanders gets a full AFL pre-season of running in, he'll be a really really valuable mid for us.

He reminds me of Dangerfield with his explosive attack on the ball and man. I reckon we'll be pleasantly surprised about how dynamic he'll be once his anaerobic capacity improves.

A really good pickup for a rookie.

reminds me more of the Swans Kennedy - Danger has electric pace which Aaron doesn't have and Dangerfield slices through the midfield with pace and sideways movement - again - not Vandenburg - but his strength at the contest ( inability to be knocked off the ball) and his relentless attack at the man and the ball is Kennedy like. Even his marking is Kennedy like - not spectacular like Dangerfield can be but very strong hands.

Loving his work so far. Looks like he still has improvement left in him in terms of his fitness, and given that he is coming off 1 half AFL pre-season, that is exciting rather than worrying.

I put my hand up to say I had written this bloke off after 2 years in the wilderness with injury. I totally underestimated how important a player he is. 

It's no coincidence that we are playing the most brutal and physical footy I've ever seen us play in half a century,  since he returned to the team.

He has raised the bar for our hardness at the footy and every other player has followed suit.

Agree, but would like him to clean up some of those inside 50s though.

Petracca would do well to attack the footy like Vanders. No side steps from Azza. Straight lines only. Intimidating football.

Loves a ‘don’t argue’, and is good at it too.

Hes becoming one of my favorites, every week he lays a tackle bump that just rattles an opponent,  bit off a little bit more then he could chew on the wing during the game but he'll learn from that, you could see the Cats players looking for him.  He, Viney, Harmes are becoming scary for opponents.  Who would have thought picking naturally tough at it midfielders would work out so well compared to skinny athletes.

I too thought he would struggle too get back in the side.

Providing lots of contests and tackles. Looking like he still has significant improvement left in his game too .

He was the forgotten man 8 weeks ago....  now,  what a story.  Over his injuries and a one man wrecking crew bulldozing his way through the Geelong scum in a finals win.   Love him.

Missed a lot of footy, now picking up the tempo. Made a couple of errors but I love the wrecking ball quote.

One tackle was right in front of me.

We heard it the Geelong bloke felt it.

The thing is with AVB he is always trying to find away. 

He’s a tough nugget and balances up the team beautifully.

Funny how some players get away with shocking errors and not others. If Tyson had made that howler people would be screaming for his blood. (Mind you he made on of his own...but in the forward line)

I’ve always rated vandenBerg, in fact I could see his talent while most people on Demonland were still working out how to spell his name.

However, at the game last night you could feel the frustration in the crowd with some of his decision making with the ball (plus dropping a simple chest mark).

He did a lot right, but last night wasn’t his best.

True, but we won't see Tyson running straight through opposition players. I can live with a turnover or two if it leaves an opposition player in fear of being smashed.

I thought I might have been the only one to think this.

I liked his aggression but I thought he was our worst last night. Good pressure, but we got pressure from all 22, and otherwise he made bad decisions at critical times. 

Tyson's a tough player, and good in close...and generally a penetrating kick, as in the decisive kick to the square in the 4th. (Yes, they go awry occasionally). VB's disposal is very ordinary. Hey, I like them both! But the constant whining about Tyson on this site is bloody tedious. 

He’s been pretty good since his return, but he was probably in our bottom 3 last night along with Spargo and Petracca.

I think he was responsible for 2 Geelong goals.

Team sport is about everyone playing their role. One of his major roles is setting the on field standard for attack and aggression. Once again 100% executed!

Who would have thought he’d have he impact he’s had! 5 games in two years and he’s moving as well as ever. A wildcard!

If he was one of our worst, according to others and not me, then we will keep on winning.

EVERYBODY made mistakes last night, and I think he made 2 (and only two that people have noted). 

I thought he was great last night, not even close to our bottom 3.

and whoever was in our bottom 3 still played their roles last night, I don’t think we had any passengers, while Geelong had several.

if we had kicked straight and showed more composure, we would have won by over 10 goals.

Gun I can't believe people thought he had a bad game and wanted him delisted when he wasn't on the park. As someone said a wild card.
