I've just joined up to AFL live pass so I can watch todays game. Does anyone know if it can be chromecast to the TV? I assume that I can watch it on my computer and I don't have to have a mobile or tablet to see it.

Thanks for any help.

It's on the MFC website - no need for AFL live pass today.

It's a windy day today so expect plenty of skill errors. The ground is notoriously unprotected from the wind so it's certainly going to be a challenge for the players.

@Baghdad Bob and McQueen:

Yeah, the stream's free on the club website today, so no need to sign up. We were airplaying the game last night off an iPhone so I imagine a tablet would be just as easy. We had it in mirror mode and it worked fine.

I'll be playing it off my laptop with a HDMI cable plugged into the tv because I find that easiest.

Other options are to load it through a 'SmartTV' or you can bring it up on a playstation/Xbox if you have one of those.

Edit: just had a look at Chromecast. You'd probably have to bring up the club website on Chrome and play it through there. Shouldn't be too much hassle. I haven't used it, but it looks like it works much the same as Samsung SmartTVs.

Thanks Yoss, I'll give it a go. I'm not great with this sort of thing...

The surface is looking good. I'm in the ground already. If anyone is here early keep an eye out for one of our own umpiring the AFL 9's pre-game entertainment.

It's windy AF too, worse than it was at home. Expect the majority of the play to be on the opposite side to the cameras/grandstand, although if you sit on that side you'll have the sun in your eyes.

Doesn't look like the players are here yet, I managed to sneak down to the rooms but there were only a few trainers down there.

For chromecast users if you have a recent android device (using 4.4 if I remember correctly) you can go into the chromecast app and press 'cast screen' in the menu and you can watch whatever is on your screen.

I've done this the last two weeks and it's watchable, nowhere near hd though.

Since today's game is being streamed online downloading the chromecast add on in chrome on the computer and casting a chrome tab may be better quality, although I'm no expert on this yet

So they've come out and said they are treating today's game as if it was round 1. If certain players consistenly produce simple errors against an undermanned Bulldogs side they need to have their papers stamped.

Last time I saw MFC playing in Ballarat, we had a big win and Norm Smith left at three quarter time..

Grimes and Matt Jones are going to putting lots of footies in the grandstand by the sound of things

It's at least a 40-50kph wind going straight across the ground, it probably won't favour an end but it's going to make things easy.

Let's not skirt around this. If treating it as a Rd 1 game and looking to win, with the side the Dogs are putting out, we should belt them.

Are you actually going to be watching it or are you just wallowing in the misery at home, I have other commitments so can't, so have to rely on the wonderful coverage on here

Exactly, as Tmac alluded to, "we don't have the luxury of taking these games lightly"

We need momentum, 8 day break since travelling west, no excuses anymore.

Alright, I'm set up on the couch, fine Islay scotch at the ready. Let's get this thing started.

Someone call ahead, we're good to go.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
