Seems like he made a great business decision

Well everyone knew he was dumb as a box of hammers. He almost appears to have made the decision over a beer in Bali with Bucks, because he was infatuated with the guy as a Pies fan. And he won't even be the coach next year.

Not to mention he hated Roos playing him in defence and sulked all year about it, and now finds himself in the same position at Collingwood because he's utterly useless as a forward (which our coaches worked out years ago).

And the funniest part is that he just has to suck it up and take it. Crap coach, crap culture, crap president, crappier money than we offered and less wins, too.

Howe dumb

I reckon that once his manager started playing games and kept shopping him around looking for more money we took our offer off the table!

And, then sent him on his way to GCS as part of the pick upgrade package.

He had little option until the Pies gave him a lifeline (to stay in Victoria).

He's a natural defender and has arguably been a better recruit than Adam 'burn the ball' Treloar.

He'd suit the zone defence we are trying to implement as he reads the ball so well in the air.

Well said. I'd kill for a key defender that actually plays with some assurity.

I heard that interview as well. Strange he would walk out.

He would be a handy defender this year. But obviously cannot be trusted as he burnt his team mates

Wonder if he has regrets?

Had a really strong relationship with Bucks and i'd heard he wanted to play as a forward and Roosy had basically locked him in as a defender if he stayed.

The irony being he's gone to a team behind us and is playing in defense after a short failed stint as a forward.

Yes hence my question about regret.

He would be very useful in this zone defence considering Lynden Dunn has spat the dummy

Would be shocked if he didn't feel a fair bit of regret walking off after being belted by the Dees

Melbourne made him an offer he could refuse.

It's not our fault that the Pies overrated him.

He wouldn't be doing anything differently in our back half either.  He'll have the odd good game, some decent ones and others where he goes missing.

Heard the interview and was amazed that Mark Robinson was utterly clueless that Howe had played defence at Melbourne.  Howe told him he'd played about 30 games there.

What do these journalists watch ?

Whatever the filth are paying him,it's still more than what he's worth.

Footage of the coaches box and social media feeds.

Howe would be useful in defense this year. Great as a floating wingman-type defender. We have managed without him but we might have been better defensively with him there.

He obviously fell for the pre-season hype about Collingwood being top-4 quality.

If MFC brains  trust had thought  Jeremy of any real value they would have tried to keep him...

He was ushered out the door and into a cab with a voucher for down the road.

With good reason

Totally agree..Chief Football writer of what??

Robbo is not Robbo Crusoe. There have been several commentators this year who have congratulated the Collingwood brainstrust on playing Howe in defence.

Some might suggest for some it's the bottom of a bottle

Howe seems great... for 6 games. Then he switches off. Has never played a full consistent season and I doubt he ever will

He's always going to be lauded as some kind of superstar after 1 or 2 good games, purely because he plays for Collingwood. It's the way of the media.

Just imagine if the thoroughly mediocre and awkward Mason Cox played for us -- it wouldn't even be a story. I mean, an American playing in the AFL?! How extraordinary and unheard of! Oh, except that other guy who plays for St Kilda and debuted last year... but that's St Kilda! Nobody cares!

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
