FAREWELL JEREMY HOWE

Featured Replies

Roos was quick to call out Bugg and Kennedy at the press conference stating how they are competitors and that the team is really now starting to complete.

Howe was great entertainment, but he just didn't have that burning desire to keep competing. Kennedy and Bugg just seem to have that competitiveness in them which is what we need.

I find it amusing how the commentators find Howe's move down back as a "masterstroke".

Looking at his stats one would think he's improved going from an average of 10 disposals to 18. What they fail to mention is how many kick outs and freebies he now gets.

Was great to get another one up on him, and I'm glad the club didn't entice his inflated price tag.

What amuses me more is how he left the MFC to play in the forward line.

This one we can put down as a win by the FD.

didn't think he had much impact at all. did think his kicking had improved a little

I believe his kicking style was never bad, it is that he under or over kicks it when under pressure or makes a bad decision when not under pressure. The classic example was the last game he played for us against the giants was after he took a speccie, he kicked a nice kick to a team mate in the corridor, only a giant player read it well and picked it off. Then he was involved in a contested ball only for him to (literally) sit down and then the Giants kicked a goal.

It is interesting that the Magpies are using him as a distributor of the ball. It must mean his has reduced the number of poor options or the Magpies are out of options. Maybe they could do with Heath Shaw.

My highlight from yesterday was when jesse out marked Howe in the pack on the members wing.

I think they are about ten short.

The boo Howe got around the 25 minute mark of the last quarter at the Punt rd. end was followed by an equally loud laugh by the crowd.

I'm still trying to work out what was Howes excuse for leaving?? Scully left for money, Rivers and Frawley for more finals action and Scott Thompson because of home sickness. But what was Howe's reasons? I know he wanted to play more forward but surely he is not that stupid to leave only to then find himself camped down back again..?

Funny how Jeremy left us to play up forward in a winning team.

Atleast he still takes speccies every week!

Oh wait...

Didn't his manager give the club the run-a-round all year, making silly public claims about wanting $600K?.  I suspect the club finally ran out of patience and decided to trade him.

I recall he was part of the trade up draft pick package with GCS but at the last minute Howe did a deal with Buckley while in Bali.  Put a spanner in the works for our pick trade up plan but thankfully Mahoney and Co were able to redeem the situation.

Absolute spud, was so glad when he left. He was lucky he played more than 10 games a year for the MFC, he wouldnt get a game for us now.

I feel for him. Im sure as players get over injuries he will be down forward again. If he cant be 3rd tall, I guess he goes back. I didnt like the howls he got yesterday. Some mcc member really bung it on as if we never lost big time.

Maybe he left because he was not encouraged to stay. The counter offer might have been very small.

We didn't want to keep him. And now you see why.

Read between the lines.

He was pushed. Simple as that.

He priced himself out of the market to delay contract negotiations until the last minute so Collingwood could get him at fire sale prices.

In one of his first interviews on the Collingwood website he spoke about how he'd been talking to Buckley for months....

Wonder if he will get on with the new coach as well as he did with Buckley? I guess the Buckley promise of playing in the forward line won't be on the table anymore.

The only thing I'll say about Howe was, he was the the only source of enjoyment on some of the bleak days when were getting destroyed.

We didn't want him.

I laughed when they had him doing the kick outs.

Me too. Turned to my brother and said "Collingwood are done if Howe is doing kick outs".

It's was a good day.
