Fitzy is crook

Salem still has a pressure bandage on his calf although he said it is ok, Viney took a belt in he head/stomach/balls at training, Tommy Mc bit stiff in the back, team may sort itself out

Riley and Terlich did ok in the drills but finished early and ran laps, Pig got Billy Stretch a couple of times and tickled is ribs, will put more in the training thread

FB: Jetta Dunn Garland

HB: Grimes McDonald Salem

C: Lumumba Jones Newton

HF: Kent Hogan JKH

FF: Gawn Dawes Garlett

Foll: Jamar Tyson Cross

Int: Spencer, Pedersen, Frost (need extra talls), Viney, Michie, Toumpas

S: Matt Jones, Bail

Emer: Stretch, McKenzie, vandenBerg

That's a guess at a team. Although I'd like to see Stretch and vandenBerg play. Could leave out Spencer or have him as the sub and swap him with Jamar at half time, but I think they are keen to see Gawn play as much key forward as possible before round 1 and therefore I'd have Spencer and Jamar swapping in the ruck.

Decent 18 but it gets very thin after that IMO :(

Pretty close I'd say. Wouldn't mind seeing Frost in for Garland, purely because I want to see what Frost offers.

Would also like to see Toumpas spend a bit of time on the wing or playing in tandem with Salem, just to see how it works.

Would take Spencer off the bench and replace him with Vandenberg too, reckon the coaching staff would be pretty keen to see how he goes in a competitive game.

Is leaving Jetta out of this an oversight or deliberate? If the latter... why?

Hoping Bail, M Jones and Spencer get cut from the squad. Would love to see what Vanderberg and Stretch have to offer.

Harsh on Bail and Jones, both been quite solid all preseason, and Jones in particular has probably been one of the most consistent better performers.

I thought I would rather see all the new guys in the squad being given a run. (Bail, McKenzie, Spencer as emergencies)

Why?

Because we know what to expect from them. Want to see what the new players can offer, and the NAB cup is great starting point. Probably should have put Mckenzie out for Bail or Jones

Im willing to give the likes of Mckenzie Jones and Bail a go. They are senior mature players with experience. Especially against the likes of Freo we need all the experience we have.

Until someone like a Stretch or Brayshaw absolutely smash the door down at Casey then these guys get the nod for the time being.

My reaction when the Hulk throws his first opponent to the ground in a one on one contest....

As long as he doesn't join another team in the future and becomes Hollywood Hogan.

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full

    MEANWHILE by Whispering Jack

… meanwhile, at about the same time that Narrm was putting its feet on the accelerator to obliterate the long-suffering Euro-Yroke combination, I heard someone mention in passing that Kuwarna was leading Waalitj Marawar by a whopping 46 to 1 halfway through the second quarter of their game over in Adelaide. “What is football coming to?” I asked myself.  In front of my eyes, the Demons were smashing it through the midfield, forcing turnovers and getting the footy to their forwards who w
