Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

New Leadership Group Announced

Looks a good group of solid leaders, without 'leaders-to-be' or 'leaders in training' which is not what your LG should be.

The LG is more important than the C and VC situation or who are in those roles but they have got those roles right too; Jones is a no-brainer and Dunn has turned himself into a solid and competitive player who also happens to be playing elite level HBF/FB play. Hopefully the false bravado and jumper punching are consigned to history...

I'm delighted that the leadership group contains only those who were standouts and no one was included who was a "maybe" deserved to be included.

Like positions in the team, the leadership group should pick itself and places need to be earned. The LG should not be about potential and future leaders - their time will come.

I like it!

Dunn has proven himself over a period of time, we all know what Crossy and Jones bring and Dawes has shown leadership in the forward line. H (finding it hard not to refer to him as Harry O so it's just H for now) really not sure on him although I suppose he is prepared to make a stand for what he believes in and actually glad to see Grimes remaining in the leadership group. Whilst he wants to concentrate on his own footy and has stepped down from the captaincy still has a role around training and within the club and if he gets back to his best footy it will be a bonus

Well it is a fact!

Would've prefered if they'd have used the term "new additions". After the Rodans, Gilles' and Byrnes' we've brought to the club, the term "recycled players" has an ugly sound to it nowadays. Saying that, guys like Cross, Lumumba and Dawes have brought more to the club than any previous "recycled players".

On the Garland situation, he has been plagued with foot and ankle issues for the last two years, he is finally clear of them, as we keep acknowledging there is competition for spots, perhaps he does just want to concentrate on himself, he is still very vocal at training, if I get the chance I will ask him

You are posting on a board that demands Watts get physical, and then you put this, every team needs a [censored] in defence, Dunny gets up forwards noses, you will notice he hardly ever gets reported, he knows how to do it just inside the letter of the law,, I don't want him to change

He has changed.

His on field behaviour has become better and it has coincided with his impressive form over the last two years.

The correlation is up to the individual to decide but he is more worried about 'beating' his opponent by getting the footy and he is the better player for it.

Take my word for it, he hasn't changed that much on match day, the rest of the defence love his in-your-face style, that is the one other thing I have noticed at training, he leads a defence that would die for each other, he is just 'playing' better and we notice that more now

Too bad if some are offended but I noticed the recycled players making up half the leadership group and simply decided it was a reflection of our poor recruiting in the past and dumb decision making such as making a pair of kids the co-captains.

Put another way, it reflects the very poor management that has been entrenched these past few years.

Yep, and shows that we identified a deficiency and have taken steps to correct it.

I fail to see how having "recycled" players in the leadership group is a bad thing.

It also means we now have a very youthful playing list, and we have turned over the list in a big way in the last couple of years

It's good and bad IMO.. the fact we have so few senior leaders that have grown up at the club is a terrible indictment - but on the other hand, the players we have chosen to import from other clubs have been fantastic choices

Agreed. It's a two sided coin.

That said, Dawes and Cross don't feel like ring ins to me anymore. They feel like Demons players, which is a credit to both of them.

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
