Don't think many of these would struggle

B: Whelan Hughes Wight

HB: B. Lovett Spalding S. Febey

C : Tingay Wilson Flower

HF: Yze Schwarz Lyon

F: Farmer Jakovich Neitz

R : Stynes Healy Healy

Int : Johnson Stretch Viney

Sub : Yeats

Em : Green White G. Lovett

Not bad, I would put Neitz in his right position at CHB though where he would rack up AA honours.

which Demons since 1984 would be able to play the current AFL style of this past year? lets make our best team to take on the Hawks of 2014.

F/B: wrecker Whelan, Sean White, Danny Hughes

H/B: Robbie Flower, David Neitz, Stephen Tingay

C/L: Alan Johnstone, ???????, Steven Stretch

H/F: Ricky Jackson, the Ox, Adam Yze

F/F: Jeff Farmer, Gary Lyon, Earl Spalding

Ruck: Jimma Stynes, Viney snr, Brett Lovett

Int: Jeff White, the Flash, Alan Jakovich, ???????????????????????????????????

Reckon a 3 X Best and Fairest winner who is also our current captain could slot into that centre spot

Anyone from 87 to 94.

Jakovich could have done with some training ,any really.

Flower, then daylight, then some others (just like in the 70s and 80s). Robbie certainly had the skills, and could run all day. He would also be able to kick his way through the press, and win one-on-ones to break it. He was also an enthusiastic tackler, despite being built like a point post. He would probably be rookie pick number 112, but once he got to training, there would be no doubt.

The biggest difference for me is kicking skill, and a willingness to run all day. Many of those named already don't have one or both of these, IMHO. Ox maybe, but the list is not all that long.

What a team! If only they could have been around together.

Just about unbeatable.

I wonder how Allen J would have travelled in the modern era. If we take as a given that he would have done the training, I wonder how he would go.

I say if he was modern day fit he would have still kicked goals galore, he just had that gift. Coaches would have double team him but that would open up others to kick the goals. That may have tested him, but he had immense talent to make it in any era.

The clubs all time leading goal kicker, only Colman medallist and all australian full forward and you think his right position is in the back line? He was a good backman but he was a great forward

He was a great backman, not just a good one.

Ask Carey: he rated Neita alongside Glen Jakovich as his most difficult opponent.

Nieta rates 25th all time most goals.

Kicked 2 less than Alistair (Sleepy) Lynch and more than Pavlich. in roughly the same amount of games.2.06 per game.

Was still a great player anywhere and shows he would no doubt have kicked more if he wasn't as versatile.

Was a great leader and clubman as I hear he still is .

The best of all was plugger.

Hudson and McKenna were statistically formidable but had shorter careers.

But none of them were as nuts as Farmer ,Jako,Jacko ,Smith,Bennett,Jurrah et al.

so outa Gazza Lyon, the Ox, & AJakovich, which one would you drop to allow a talented back (Neita) to play up front?

Tingay had the skills and the real two way running. Some of his tackling was bone crunching.

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
