Sam Blease wants out

Featured Replies

We won't get much, will end up being something like a Morton deal just to get him off the list.

Why bother when we could just delist him?

I have no idea, but clearly it is something worth doing to Roos, otherwise he would have been delisted already.

I have been reliably informed that Blease will be traded to Carlton for Mitch Robinson.

A minor pick upgrade is better than nothing I'd have thought. That's about the limit of his worth though.

I was more saying why would we bother with a Morton deal (ie using a pick we won't use) - surely the whole point of keeping him on the list was to try and get something for him or use him as steak knives in another deal. I have no doubts there'd be a couple of clubs who reckon they could get something out of him.

I have more time for Blease than most people around here, but I'd be very happy to get Robinson in for him. Now that he's had his wake up call, I'm sure Roosy can keep him under control.

Anything for Blease ( IMO selfish DUD) is a win!! If we land Robinson this is a sensational outcome.

I guess I agree, but it will be a new experience for me to loathe a Melbourne player.

As soon as he pulls on a MFC jumper he is transformed ET.

Will be instantly a wonderful guy

Hope that rumour is true.

While Robinson kicking can be suspect (I judge it is as passable overall) but he is tough as nails.

Wouldn't mind seeing if we can get Mitch hallahan for hawks as well. Can't get a look in at hawks and would easily slot in to our best 22.

If true this is a definite list improvement.

What did we get from them for the Brockster? I would have thought that at the time he went, he wasn't showing much more than Blease does, and at least Blease has pace and reasonably good finishing skills going for him (when he can get started that is).

Brock had played a touch under 100 games at a consistent B to A- grade level. Blease has played 30 or so games and it'd only be about 5 where he's played to an acceptable AFL level. Not really comparable.

Why bother when we could just delist him?

Because we could get a steak knives for a better trade (3rd round pick or so) or a direct player swap that might suit a need (Robinson/ Gartlett/ T.Hunt etc.).

robinson would be in our best 22. blease isn't.

Agree with this - he's a slight upgrade all round over Bail and it would be nice to have a mongrel out on the field, most of this year I was left wishing for a line in the sand type moment.

Robinson may be an OK player, but is a rubbish human.

Please PLEASE don't bring him to our club. He makes me physically ill and we don't need the trouble he brings. Not remotely a good enough player to turn a blind eye to that sort of stuff.

I don't mind Robinson .. his style of play and the attributes he posses would greatly improve our side. I agree with you Red Leg as soon as a player dons a red & blue jumper he is "ours" and the slate is clean.

Some very interesting recruitment being rumoured for the club. Not sure if coincidental or not but if Roos is targetting some controversial players it could say a lot about what he thinks of our current list.

I would do cartwheels if this deal got done.

We'd finally have a hard, physical, unsociable, dirty player on our list. With our list of nice boys we are screaming out for a Campbell Brown type.

I'd take that any day over the perfectly clean Blease and Strauss types who don't like it physical and lack competitiveness.

Not only would he change the on field culture but Robinson averages 20 possessions and a goal a game. A walk up start. I'd be rapt.

Jeezus, what happened to the no dhead rule? Robinson? Honestly can't see it happening.

Robinson coming to a team he once said played "bruise free footy" is almost comical.

I'd take him though.

Do you know him personally?

He's a prize-winning [censored] and played a part in breaking Carlton's culture.

Only an average player, too.

Would be really disappointed to have to put up with him in our colours for two years.

  • PREVIEW: West Coast

It was bad enough that the Melbourne Football Club created yet another humiliating scenario inside its wretched season at Marvel Stadium last Sunday, but the final insult is that it has been commanded to return to the scene of the crime to inflict further punishment on its fans this week. Incidentally, if this match preview, of a game that promises to be one of the most unattractive fixtures in the history of the game, happens to cut out of your computer screen three quarters of the way through, it’s no coincidence. I’ll be mirroring the Demons’ lacklustre effort against St Kilda from last Sunday when they conceded the largest last quarter turnaround for victory in the history of the game.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

When looking back at the disastrous end to the game, I find it a waste of time to concentrate on the final few moments when utter confusion reigned. Forget the 6-6-6 mess, the failure to mark the most dangerous man on the field, the inability to seal the game when opportunities presented themselves to Clayton Oliver, Harry Petty and Charlie Spargo, the vision of match winning players of recent weeks in Kozzy Pickett and Jake Melksham spending helpless minutes on the interchange bench and the powerlessness of seizing the opportunity to slow the tempo of the game down in those final moments.
