Reasons why and why not to sign up in 2015

Featured Replies

In previous years we didn't have what is on paper one of the very best coaching panels in the league, a gun CEO, and a preceding season where in the first half at least, we started to resemble a professional football side.

The reasons for signing up are as plain as the nose on your face, and to that extent, it is a bit of a silly thread.

If you post on Demonland, you surely care enough to sign up.

OD is right until we ACTUALLY have the points on the board.

I mean it is actually hard to imagine winning 5 in a row, but that is what we must come to expect.

Until it happens though it is cheap talk.

Yet you still signed up, and are saying that you're attending Round 1 2015, your first live game since 2013. What are your reasons for these decisions. "Talk is cheap"?

Yes i will be there. Roos 2nd year is the pivotal one.

But if the players do not lift then even Roos is talking cheap, no matter what he tries.

We will know more just by the energy of the team...that is why the last 10 weeks of season 14 were so disturbing...they rolled over...

What has Roos has actually said to warrant being "cheap"? I can't recall him ever big noting himself or the team since his arrival. The opposite is the case, if anything.

I'm not sure what point you're arguing here in the context of a discussion about why someone should sign up. YOU signed up. So what were your reasons for doing so?

I am sure even Roosy is questioning what happened in the last 10 weeks of season 14. I blame the players not Roos. THEY AND ONLY THEY can kick the ball and score goals. We cannot and nor can the coaches. If the mindset of the playing group is negative it will not matter what Roos says. This is what i am saying. Next year is all about the players 100%. No more excuses on any level.

Earn your contract or [censored] off is the way i will view the season.

I signed up again because the MFC is family and by putting in i can air my views with a clear conscience

But if season 15 is another 4 win 10 straight loss season i won't be too interested in parting with a few $ Thousand...

I am still paying off a house

Fair enough, but there isn't any need to pay attention to what is being said by anyone at this stage. The facts are as I have laid them out, in terms of the quality of the people at the club that has been sorely lacking in the past.

As far as the quality of the football, the last 10 games were a disappointment but I'm willing to give credence to the theory that players ran out of steam in trying to implement a gameplan that asks more of their bodies than to which they have been accustomed.

My expectation is for things to be picked up where they were left off midway through the season, and I am happy to place a number on the amount of wins. 8 is the pass mark for me in 2015.

but Man how can you write off Half a season (10 games) just because the players got puffed out!!

I cannot accept that the entire list wilted altogether and didn't push past the pain barrier.

Not once.

I cut them no slack. That is the point. The MFC was not born for that purpose.

Always renew the membership, downgrade if you have to but always renew.

Exactly.

Dedicated Demon automatic renewal is the way to go.

Just give in to the pain.

FFS! Every single DL member should be there. Maybe we can have a special area for us? If it for "special" people I am certain we will have a few of us turn up?

And please reserve a spot for my RR!

Exactly.

Yeah that's what I do Steve but the pang in the arse is getting harder to cop each year!

Thought you'd be enjoying it more and more?

Signed up.

I sign up every year.

Some years I go to lots of games, some years (e.g. 2012) I go to virtually none.

But membership gives me the right to say "These are MY BOYS and they're playing shite / playing well / showing some promise / all farked up" or whatever.

And I can say it with a sense of ownership. They are MY team.

This is it for me too.

Mate I love some of your posts but....This constant MUST....MUST....Must do this and do that is getting a bit tiresome

Do you not think that the players are not trying?....Do you think that the footy Dept is not doing all it can to win games?

All these players, coaches, admin, bootstudders are human they have ups and down like all of us otherwise we may as well have robots out on the field. As you know all clubs have great games and very poor games (yes even Hawthorn).

And how do you know that players did not push past the pain barrier? And just for the record CS did not start World War 2

I will remain a member

........ And just for the record CS did not start World War 2

sheesh, you were going well until you dropped this clanger.....read your history, it's all there

wyl is soft as butter; I demand us to win 22 games next season.

And if that gets us into the finals - and I think it might - I demand us to win another 3 games to win the flag.

Why have realistic expectations? Why have a rational conversation about the reality of what this team can do?

Why indeed.

So how does a lifelong Demon Supporter send a strong message to the MFC that enough is enough and it is time to "Put Up" on the park, so as not to offend you Tight One?

I am a full MFC/MCC Member for 2015 btw...

Aleady signed on for Redlegs with my wife, daughter, father in law and two nephews.

A few months ago the season could not end quickly enough for me. Right now I want the season to start again, cant wait to see the new boys run out in the red and blue and like every year I am quietly optimistic about a top 8 and wishing for a top four finish. I think when it turns around it will happen quickly, we have some very good players and are filling some more gaps this off season. If we can get 30-40 goals from a couple of players we will be right int them mix. Garlett, Howem Hogan and Dawes, I am looking at you.

I hope the club honours Tulip at the opening round and the faithful come out in numbers.

Go Dees

I think this should be our next membership slogan.
Keeping the actual lyrics in mind, I devote this song to BenHur and RobbieF.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
