List of players out of contract in 2015:

Who are must re-signs and who are not offered contracts?

2015
Trengove, Jamar (UFA), Garland (RFA), McKenzie, Howe, N Jones (RFA), Evans, Gawn, Fitzpatrick, Toumpas, Pedersen, Salem, Kennedy-Harris, Hunt, Cross, Bail, Riley, Harmes , King

At this point I reckon only five of the 19 are certain to be offered contracts - N.Jones, Howe, Salem, Gawn and Garland.

The rest are wait and see how they go in 2015 before asking them to put pen to paper - and that's the way it should be.

We are now in strife for this year's draft (may not be able to use pick 40 and 53) because someone decided to sign a stack of players that they didn't need to.

you can safely add JKH to that lot

I reckon Toumpas, Fitzy and Pederson will make it thru with flying colours! Hunt will step up and Bail will get better.

These plus aforementioned players by other posters are my 'most likely to succeed' list from the the 2015 OOC's

Absolutely appalling list management to have players like Evans, McKenzie and Jamar signed to long term deals.

I'm no great fan of Bail, but how McKenzie and Evans got multiple years and Bail only received a one year extension is mind boggling.

If it was up to me, Evans would have been shown the door after round 23 and we could have had a full board of picks in the draft.

You'd think Roos would have more idea than Neeld, but his form in re-signing the likes of M.Jones, Barry and Terlich to multi year deals is just as bad.

I reckon of these Trengove is likely to be offered a new contract out of good will. Jamar will hang them up. Garland to re sign. McKenzie to be luck to last this year. Howe/Jones to be crucial signings next year. Evans another to be luck to last the year. Fitzpatrick and Toumpas will be form dependent as will Pederson. Salem and JHK need to be resigned. Crossy to move into a development role. Bail and Riley jury out. Harmes is a wait and see. King to be our next front line ruck.

Jones is serviceable, Barry is a project that is only 2 years in- there's obvious potential there if he has been given enough time to realise it. Terlich was a bit early and premature considering trade period hadn't ecen begun

Trengove - Rookie list in 2016 - only if injury heal - retire if it goes pear shaped

Jamar (UFA) - this year should be his last.

Garland (RFA) - would want to rekindle his 2013 form otherwise his length of contract & value are dropping massively.

McKenzie - delist ASAP

Howe - 2 or 3 year deal IMO

N Jones - throw the kitchen sink and all the cutlery at him.

Evans - should have been paid out for 2014 - delist ASAP.

Gawn - if he can remain injury free - 2 year deal.

Fitzpatrick - It a NO for me - delist at years end.

Toumpas - massive year for this bloke at the crossroads.

Pedersen - needs to keep improving and performing to warrant anything more than a 1 year extension.

Salem - our future 2 years

Kennedy-Harris - as above.

Hunt- needs to show something - 1 year deal only at this stage.

Cross - can write 1 year contacts for as long as his body holds out.

Bail- 1 year deal only,I would hope others develop and improve to force him out of our best 22

Riley - worth a 2 year deal - IMO could surprise a few this year.

Harmes - same as Hunt

King - same as Harmes

I thought Kennedy Harris signed a contract extension mid season?

Trengove - keep if his foot heels, even rookie list him, if it's still not better by the end of next year then delist
Jamar (UFA) - should be his last season, if fit he may go for one more, IIRC in his season review he was saying how he feels he can go a couple more. We'll see what pans out.
Garland (RFA) - should remain a dee in 2016, had an iffy 2014 season, but was injured and missed pre-season. He's a keep.
McKenzie - should be delisted, Cross the main tagger in 2014, McKenzie filled in and was just ok. Still a good tagger, but nothing much other than that. Delist.
Howe - would get a few decent offers thrown at him you'd reckon, ala GWS late in the trade period. Could provide a bit of trade bait, if gone it'll hurt our merchandising. He does his job, as the year went on he sunk into the backline role better, he's a keep.
N Jones (RFA) - keep, keep, keep, keep, KEEP. Obvious reasons why, has to re-sign, WILL re-sign.
Evans - showed a bit in 2013 in the worst MFC team ever before injured, didn't do much in the game he played this year, delist.
Gawn - definite keep. Provides a good target up forward and is only getting better with his ruck work, will be our main ruckman in the near future. He's a keep.
Fitzpatrick - has shown signs, last two games this year he was good. Will be happy to re-sign him if he keeps it up, can provide solid forward depth if he doesn't cement a spot in the 22. He's a keep.
Toumpas - didn't do much in 2013 due to overcoming serious injuries, sent to casey and injured in 2014, let's see what this man is made of next year. Still got high hopes for the Toump, Roos was treating him as a first year player this year, McCartney will develop Toump into a fine running outside mid. He's a keep.
Pedersen - had a decent 2014 campaign, provides a contest, has great hands. Should be a dee beyond 2015, I see no reason why he wouldn't.
Salem - although didn't rake a whole heap of disposal this year, he showed great signs, Macca will work his magic on him and by the end of 2015 he should be in our starting 22, will be a fine player this guy. He's a keep.
Kennedy-Harris - young player, slowed down before the end of year, as expected. Will have a better 2014 and will re-sign with the red and blue. The Wiz V.2. He's a keep.
Hunt - honestly don't know enough about him to comment.
Cross - 2015 should be his last season, hopefully stays at the MFC in some sort of mentoring role.
Bail - had a good year, deserved the contract he got given, if he keeps it up he should be re-signed again. He's a keep.
Riley - had an ok year, love his grunt, doesn't do much more than that though. I wouldn't lose sleep if he's gone at the end of next year. Delist.
Harmes - project mid, rookie'd again for 2015, good player and will be a surprise packet to many. He's a keep.
King - assuming he's already signed for next year? Project ruck, rucks take a long time, and so will this kid, he's a keep.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
