Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Imagine if that poor excuse for a journalist on AFL.com who was real clever showing a side we apparently missed out on, did some research. Rather then showing blokes who were picked 16 picks later how about try the next pick as that shows who the next club thought was the one we missed out on. Makes a whole different story

The individual pick comparison is definitely a misleading and stupid one.

Obviously, the overall draft result tells an emphatic story but these dumb articles and the hand-wringing about 'oh, we could have had Jesus on the half-forward flank and Gilgamesh rucking" just don't add anything to the world.

That AFL.com article is flawed beyond say year one, 2006. Had MFC recruited those players in 2006,2007 instead of the ones actually drafted, you immediately have different players making up the playing group, and then different outcomes at the end of that season, a different ladder placing at the end of each season, and therefore different picks the following years, which immediately makes his comparisons in subsequent years irrelevant. So if MFC had in fact recruited Tippett, Gray, Dangerfield and the like in 2006/07, as suggested in the article, and those players led to better performances and more wins, the club wouldn't have had the high picks in the following years to have picked all those players that he's listed and claims that the club missed, over all those subsequent years.

Why are you applying logic here?

This made too much sense.

Don't forget 2007 when they went cold on Morton and grabbed Masten at 3 who has turned into a solid player and then in 2008 we take Maric and leave them Selwood. They love us alright! At the time I thought it interesting that they were tracking us in the 2007, 2008 drafts for early picks when they had won a flag in 2006! A mixture of pretty blatant tanking and the Judd deal.

You're such a Jesus hater. Give him a solid pre-season and you'll see he'll be a star.

Unfair to compare him to Gilgamesh as he is a completely different body type. Some blokes are just built more solidly and excel earlier in their careers.

Jesus will be fine, don't worry about him. Gilgamesh has already hit his ceiling.

At least we didn't draft Mithras. What a joke he turned out to be.

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
