I can tell you now this source is quoted from Brendan McCartney himself.

He is going to the Dees on Monday. He wrote his own contract. He is VERY happy and sounds like he may even be our next senior coach in waiting. His role won't be much next year.

He rejected Essendon senior gig because of the scandal.

He built a bonfire with all his doggies stuff, had a party and burnt it cos he was treated like crap there.

Probably the only scoop I'll ever have so passing it on to fellow Demonlanders :)

Goodwin says hi...

This confused me, but he seems very happy about his future and that he will either be senior with Melbourne or he is referring to just this giving him the chance again elsewhere.

Assume you mean senior assistant in waiting?

Possibly..but i find that bit hard to believe myself. But lets say the source popped me out out of her [censored] and knows nothing about footy. Long time friends with my mum and his wife.

For what it's worth, Hird talking about when he was at the Bombers said he was the best development coach he'd ever seen.

He was very highly regarded before that at the Cats. Could be a huge pickup on the development side.

And we have plenty that need developing.

Was just thinking maybe replacing Stone...

Most likely.

Hope the Dogs are paying his salary, as he had 2 years left as senior coach. They are paying everyone else's, Griffin and Cooney for starters.

Will be a great appointment if true.

A few of us said in the George Stone thread that McCartney would be a great replacement for him.

He coached Ocean Grove to four premierships ... oh hang on ...

They must be a tough thick skinned breed at Ocean Grove. They thrive on the being bullied approach it seems. Not like AFL princesses.

Nothing like copping saliva to the face to get you fired up.

He probably doesn't see it the same way now that he's getting paid to help develop pick 3 haha

yes redders, but also developed in the right way, developed for hardness & for contested football... like they did down at kittyland under Bomba. turned the pusssies into rugged beasts.

lets hope they all can transform us into thrashing machines on the field, & suburban diplomats away from the playing field.

THE ACCIDENTAL DEMONS by The Oracle

In the space of eight days, the Melbourne Football Club’s plans for the coming year were turned upside down by two season-ending injuries to players who were contending strongly for places in its opening round match against the GWS Giants. Shane McAdam was first player to go down with injury when he ruptured an Achilles tendon at Friday afternoon training, a week before the cut-off date for the AFL’s pre-season supplemental selection period (“SSP”). McAdam was beginning to get some real mom

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the

PODCAST: Match SIM vs North Melbourne

Join us LIVE on Monday night at 8:30pm—note that this special time is just for this week due to prior commitments. We'll break down the Match SIM against North Melbourne and wrap up the preseason with insights into training and our latest recruits. I apologize for skipping our annual season review show at the end of last season. After a disapponting season filled with off-field antics and a heated trade week, I needed a break. Thankfully, the offseason has recharged me, and I’m back—ready t

GAMEDAY: Match SIM vs North Melbourne
