The Nathan Jones appreciation thread

PR has said so much himself he said clubs will trade the star players if they don't think they're going to stick around, that is why the contract negotiations are happening right now the club is making sure before trade week to know what position their in.

You're about 200k a year short spirit. He's worth it and he deserves it.

Yep, 5 year - $3m deal bare minimum.

1 - he's our skipper

2 - He's a reigning B&F champion 3 years running

3 - He continually gives his all

4 (and most important) - He's one of our very few AFL quality players.

He's from the Robbie Flower school of deciding to be awesome even when the world is going to shite all around him.

Not only is Nathan Jones truly deserving of that No 2 jumper, he has enhanced its greatness. If he remains a Demon, just like Robbie, he will epitomise the meaning of loyalty.

Absolute champion. Deserves all the accolades hes looked over for because of the stragglers in the team. To be the only player from pre 2007 who has evolved and advance to the elite bracket is a monumental feat. Hoping next year the Vineys, Hogans and Tysons take the pressure off his shoulders and get him some recognition!

this is exactly what I have been told, discussions have started with Jones and as far as I have heard they are going okay at the moment, the clubs single objective out of this move is to make Nathan Jones a demon for life, big chance for 4-5 years on this deal

What I love about this bloke the most is he wasn't a stand out superstar from game one.

I remember watching him hand ball to the opposition in one of his first games and thinking why did we get this guy but to his credit he worked his ass off to get to the stage he is at now.

I love this guy and his determination and would be gutted if he ever left the demons.

He is the hart and sole of this club.

If Nathan Jones goes to another club (which I highly doubt will happen) I will follow him. I will stop barracking for Melbourne and just barrack for Nathan Jones.

GAMEDAY: Rd 17 vs West Coast

It’s game day and the Demons return to Melbourne to play the Eagles at the MCG for the first time in over a decade. A win keeps the Dees finals hopes alive whereas a loss will almost certainly slam the finals window shut.

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well
