I went last night and can't recall a game where there have been so few Melbourne supporters at the ground.

It was a crowd of 17,000 and I reckon at least 15k of them were North fans.

Thankfully, the cheersquad was in full voice and flying the red and blue flag.

They were sensational, chanting and cheering at the top of their lungs virtually the whole game, not just when we scored.

In contrast, North supporters had to be told when to make noise by the scoreboard, which literally carried the message "Make Some Noise" after Kangaroo goals (to the accompaniment of some ridiculous rolling crescendo music).

What a lame and artificial gimmick to create atmosphere. Have we really reached that point in the game where we need to be told when to fire up?

Anyway, the point of this thread was to acknowledge the awesome work of the Demon Army, faithful to the cause to the very end !

Well done Army, your dedication does not go unnoticed.

Watching the replay I can't recall even seeing a Demons supporter in the crowd, maybe a small pocket behind the goal however there were no close ups. I could however, hear the chanting a noise they were making. Love your work!

I was going to sit near the cheer squad but the entire bottom level seemed to be ticketed? I got in on my 15 membership and so sat up in the bleaches where there was a smattering of diehards

Yep, great to see them in full voice... when the season is well and truly over. Didn't see that from them in the earlier rounds. Sounds a bit negative I know but it actually annoyed me last night.

i actually agree with you. Endless chanting while 38 points down was cringeworthy.

With the crowd noise piped in over the loudspeakers. Shambolic.

Together with my daughter, i found myself sitting next to the army in Perth. Boy was that an experience! One elderly woman and her husband/partner spent most of the evening spraying the players with foul and obscene language. They were really over the top.

The rest were very vocal and supportive of our boys' efforts. I sat right next door to the pom pom boys and sadly their efforts to put the Eagles off when shooting for goal were unsuccessful as they kicked the first six goals before eventually missing one.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
