GOODBYE MITCH CLARK

Featured Replies

Geelong have really given us some winners over the recent past!

No point in filling up with them , only to clear them out in two years.

Worst case has to be 2nd rounder for Lumumba.

Mitch Clark will go down in medical history as the first player with an injury that can only be treated by playing for a top-4 club.

Ah well, at least Varcoe will be a good replacement for Byrnes.

I'm starting to think Melbourne should just toss the deal.

just say "we are being screwed, we're not going to put a fig leaf on it, Varcoe brings us nothing that our list actually needs. Mitch, just go."

Just get their second rounder, trade it for Lamumba and be done with it. Sick of even thinking about this massive [censored]. The faster he [censored] off the better.

Ugh, the more I think about it, the more I'd be horrified if we picked up Varcoe for Clark.

Seriously, brings nothing. How many players play every game for a season, as a midfielder/forward, but still cost barely $250k in supercoach?

Would be behind multiple young guys, from day 1. Not worth the spot on the list.

Picking up Varcoe would actually be worse than getting nothing.

If Roos wants him I will trust in his judgement.

Hope he does well but there is an element of Shannon Byrnes about it. He did well.

I am feeling ill.

GNF - when you say something like that it makes me very very very nervous...

...please tell, what is the cause of your nausea?

Do Geelong have any up and coming mids who can't break into their team at the moment?

Short answer. No.

They just cleaned out a few in delistings. They've got first and second year players. But the good ones are in the team.

George Horlin-Smith is the best player who hasn't completely nailed down a spot but he's pretty slow.

Only off the top of my head:

Murdoch

Schroeder

Kolodashnij

Stringer

Smedts?

Duncan

Too old: Bartel, Enright, Mackie, Kelly, Rivers, Lonergan, SJ, McIntosh, Stokes

Too good: Taylor, Hawkins, Selwood, Motlop, Christensen, Caddy, Duncan, Guthrie

Too injured: Cowan, Menzel, Vardy

Too drunk: Dawson Simpson

Too delisted: Sheringham, Burbury, Stringer, Schroder

Too young and important: J. Kolodjashnij, Lang, Hartman, Jansen, Thurlow, Hambling. Blicavs

Probably Available: Mitch Brown, Varcoe, Smedts, T Hunt

Possibles: Murdoch, Horlin-Smith, Walker, Bews, McCarthy

Kolodashnij

Duncan

Kolodjashnij is a key defender

Simple fact is they ain't going to give up a single player they consider part of their long-term plans. Despite how important Clark could be to their premiership chances next year.

He's definitely given me a new team to despise and root against though. Looking forward to seeing Bartel duck their team out in straight sets again next year, if they make finals at all.

I laughed.

Duncan's a top 5 player. Murdoch is a regular 22 flanker. Schroeder and Stringer are delisted, no point worrying about trading for them. Smedts can't hold a regular spot either forward flank or back flank and Kolodjasnij is a first year key defender/3rd tall defender.

Love the talk about how we shouldn't take players just because they aren't in Geelong's best 22.

Newsflash, people. We aren't Geelong.

Great summation!

soooo 3 hours ago. ;)

Chook, this really is your favourite time of the year isn't it? Did you bump into Varcoe at a TAB?

No mate!

Absolutely my favourite time of the year. No actual games to destroy our moods.

Have no interest in posting for 11 months of the year any more - just October.

Guess that makes me the new Nudge

Hope he does well but there is an element of Shannon Byrnes about it. He did well.

and ironically as I recall he was leading our goal kicking at one point...lol

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
