Paul Roos just said Pick 2 or a priority pick is on the market again at years end.

I dont like it. Last year's excuse was that there was any big bodied midfielders in the top end.

This year we have Petracca and Brayshaw as potential picks and we are still going to trade it away?

I always said we must unfortunately rebuild through the draft and start fresh.

Paul Roos is after fix fixes im afraid..

We picked up two good quality midfielders in Vince and Tyson, to add to our stocks of ONE other good quality midfielder in Jones.

Sadly, as much as Roos did last off season in terms of trading in players to fill holes, we still have enormous deficiencies which cannot be fixed by drafting.

As well as the midfield we have a gaping hole up forward which Hogan cannot fill.

I'm all for us trading our top picks again, for the right price.

Where did someone from the club say they didn't use pick 2 because there was "no big bodied mids"? Never read that.

We're falling back into old habits of putting our hopes in high pick 18 year olds when our biggest weakness is the quality of our peak age 23-27 year olds. The kids we bring in will never develop properly without quality mature players around them, and the cycle will just keep going.

Trade whatever we have to to get quality peak age players.

All for trading it if the Saints take Petracca

We won't know who they're taking in the draft as it's after trade week though.

I say we try to deal with GWS again, and also get soem of their fringe types cheaply, the likes of Golds, Whiley, Sumner etc are so much more talented than our fringe players it's not funny.

Going to miss out on potential superstar for another run of the mill hard working midfielder.

Imagine how many decent "run of the mill hard working midfielders" we would have if we had given up potential superstars like Morton, Cook, Gysberts, Blease... and on and on. The draft is still a gamble. We don't need more "potential", we need more quality.

What's wrong with it being on the table? Dom Tyson has been one of our best trade week signings ever, and is only going to improve. Why not test the waters again?

I wish we'd missed out on a few 'potential superstars' and traded the picks instead.

I believe Morton, Gysberts, Scully, Trengove and Watts were all put in that category at one time or another.

If we can trade each of 2,3,4 for 2 players each I won't mind. That's if Petracca is taken at pick 1 tho

You wouldn't know if Petracca is gone, as the trades are before the draft.

So lets give up on the draft because of BP and go for bandaid solutions forever.

Its about time we fixed things from the ground up and not keep trading for run of the mill hardworking mids.

How do you know? Look at the potential superstars we drafted. Watts. Scully. Trengove. Sylvia. McLean. Cook. Need I go on?

Would you trade for example, pick 2, for a very good GWS player and pick 4?

I reckon when Roos says pick 2 is on the table, he really means pick 3 which we will get for Frawley, but he cant say that.

Keep pick 2 - Draft Petracca (Saints will take the big boy)

Trade pick 3 (Frawley compo) for ready made player and later first round pick. e.g. pick 3 & 20 for Pick 8 and Player x.

Given his history ( PR ) was this ever in doubt. Wasnt for me.

Isn't that what the club needs? To be fixed?

We've got enough long-term players to work with: Salem, JKH, Toumpas, Kent, Hogan, Barry... The list goes on.

We'll have, or rather I'll assume we'll have, the compo pick for Frawley that'll land us a highly rated draft pick.

Trading away our pick 2 last year seems to have paid off handsomely. One of the few things the club has done right.

"Bandaid"? "Run of the mil mids"? What a shallow and thoughtless post. Who do you think we're going to trade pick 2 for? Mitch Robinson? Get a grip mate.

How do you rate our draft last year? Salem, JKH, couple of long term projects, pretty bloody good outcome despite trading a few picks hey? Tyson is a bandaid or run of the mil mid is he?

Roos has said we badly need mature top quality mids, but I guess you know better and the 18 year olds will save us, just like they have for the last 6 years....

ok we get it, you dont rate Dom Tyson

If he was having this season for another team you'd be wishing the MFC could get him

Lol Carlton superior were saying pick 2 for pick 10 and mitch Robinson not too long ago. Had a good laugh. You know, according to the Carlton board, nearly every single player in the Afl is set to go to Carlton

Paul Roos last year said it was traded to get in a experience big bodied mid like Tyson because the top end of the draft were only small mid midfielder like Billings Kelly and Aish.

Its not about pinning hopes I never said that. Its about starting over again and installing more midfield talent to go with Giney and Tyson.

Paul Roos has to back his ability to develop these kids properly.

This is why bringing in a Ryan O'Keefe would be a massive beneficiary for us.

We have Tyson who struggles with a tag and a bunch of draftees who cant get double digits in posession counts. Wouldnt say it was an overwhelming draft last year. Tyson is a bandaid solution when compared to Josh Kelly and now we are looking at doing it again. Our past draft failures were a result of BP targetting the wrong type and the game changing.

If we cant learn how to draft well and develop then we may as well fold now.

We won't develop them properly without quality peak age players to carry the load and teach the kids.

All I remember Roos saying about last year's draft was that they rated the top 10 all pretty evenly, never read anything about "no big bodied mids", but feel free to provide a link/source, cos right now I think you're making it up.

Tyson is barely 21, yet to have a full preason, and will likely be runner up in the Bluey. Pretty friggin good "bandaid" pal.

Also, you've just made it clear that you expect draftees to star and carry us, how did that work out from 2007-2013? Plus, you're ignoring the fact that 18 year olds don't develop properly without good mature players around them. You're falling into the same trap.
