I am so furious and embarrassed by that performance that I have not been able to face demonland til now. I spoke with Simon Meredith this morning who is my IT man. Simon was umpiring his first game after nearly dying a couple of months ago. Its very rare for him to umpire a bottom of the table clash, but the AFL decided to give him a warm up game with us on the weekend. It was the first time he had umpired us since 2006. He said in all his years umpiring he had never seen anything like Melbourne's performance. He realised something was seriously wrong early in the game as no Melbourne players were complaining about Giant free kicks. He had never seen this before. Further he said there was little talk between the Melbourne players and no on field leadership. Jonesy and the other senior players needed to do more.

Just passing on his comments.

My view is that team morale at the moment must be really, really low. As in low even by MFC standards. Partly because of where the club is at, but largely because most players have a target on their back come season's end. This is not a united team at present.

I'll be surprised if the next couple of weeks aren't complete massacres. They want this season to be over.

Watching the replay now as I hadn't seen the first half.

Despite the usual issues with disposal heading forward we have held tough and I think GWS have got a couple of goals against the run of play.

But seriously, Kent's poster in the second quarter was a real focal point. If he kicked that goal, the confidence grows and who knows? Lord knows Kent owed us big time with his horrible disposal up until this point in the game too.

Instead, GWS get one from a soft free kick straight after and get the usual goal against us in the last minute before half time and that was that.

I realise that this is only your view but I would hope that players would have some semblance of understanding that 1. Each end of season this happens in all clubs (List Cull) and that 2. By not playing with any intent only makes the target on their back bigger. I hope your wrong because if your right then we might as well sack 80% of the players who ran on the park this weekend.

Kent had two 1 on 1 contests ahead of him but elected to go himself, I love the way Kent attacks it but I would love for him to occasionally give it off every once in a while.

But they will take the pay cheque quite happily.

I am sick of the attitude. The players are soley responsible for where they are at.

Can someone please tell me what that girl said when the players were going into the tunnel...it looked like she was giving them a spray and was getting in Vince's face

Standing 3 feet from her when she unloaded. Her comments are as follows.

"If you guys improve JW will be a better player".

"Has anybody seen the shadow of JWs heart,he dropped it on the ground somewhere".

Then she said "thanks for listening'.

I was flying back from Germany during the game but watched the game without knowing the scores, jetlagged and angry.

To be honest by the time I finished the game I felt better: I needed the laugh.

Yes it was humorous. All the old Gals around me in the members were laughing at the antics.

The team seems able to continually invent new methods of turning over the ball

It was like old time slapsick. Very funny and tragic when the MCC members are laughing at the team

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
