Went to training today with my lovely lady and walked back towards AAMI with JKH

Asked him how he ended up on Wingard during Alice game, said it is a team rule that if you end up caught from your opponent, you are to take the nearest match and stick with it till a stoppage in the forward half allows a safe changeover, Nev Jetta was on the bench so JKH stuck with Wingard till Nev came back on...team first

He is really excited about the QB game, I said the team is so close to clicking and winning on a regular basis, he said (paraphrasing) "don't worry we want it now, we aren't waiting 2 years"

Other notes, Nathan Jones hopes Macaffer goes to Dom Tyson and Dom Tyson hopes he goes to Nathan Jones, they both had a good laugh about it

The training session was excellent, nothing but ball movement and stoppages

And Christian Salem thinks Chile are a good outside bet for the World Cup

So good to hear the players talking it up like this, and interesting team rule, I like it.....Mmm Chile?

They only have to beat us and one other. Netherlands and Chile will be a great match.

The result of the group will come down to that match, yeah. Netherlands aren't a patch on what they were four years ago, so Chile do have a chance.

Don't forget Spain boys aren't they the reining champs? lets get on an under dog, we've been one for long enough

Sorry... What was the actual "quote of the year"? Just trying to find the real words JKH said...

Yeah..... im still trying to work that out.

"Don't worry we want it now, we aren't waiting 2 years..."

I would have thought being a professional footballer that would have been a given.

A nice statement and fantastic young man however hardly "quote of the year"

I pinch myself we got this bloke and Salem, and Tyson.

All of a sudden we have three young superstars in the making.

Absolute gems.

He said another 3 weeks the other night, apparently it's the dawin game against Freo when our next father son star was due

Jones said on SEN its been pushed forward and expects he won't miss any games.

cant believe this kid fell into our lap at pick 40

I can. At his height and build you have to be exceptional. Fortunately I think he will be exceptional.

The problem is that you unflinchingly believe everything you're told by them, and attempt to defend even the indefensible.

Other than that, thanks for the insight.

It's a fairly logical strategy, but one that doesn't appear to have always been in place.

With an excessively young and inexperienced side like ours, you need to find simple rules to stick to when players get lost.

No wonder we have consistently played for a boundary throw-in even when easily avoidable.

I've always thought of it as allowing us to reset and ensure our structures are tight without the pressure of a live ball.

Obviously the dead ball also gives us an opportunity to switch back opponents and avoid all the mismatches the opposition has worked to create.

This tactic is crucial for a young team with the advent of the single runner this year.

Agreed. Dawes' quote about Alex Rance surely takes the top price.

I am sure that I read somewhere that they were expecting a daughter.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
