I think we are going to make it really tough for the doggies to kick a winning score, the game will be decided on if they can restrict us at the other end.

Rather than chanting Melbourne each week should we switch to Defence for the time being?

That's funny. Back when I went to a US College, that's one of the chants that went up at the basketball!

"DEE-FENCE! DEE-FENCE! DEE-FENCE!!"

(And looking at that spelling again, with the "dee" for emphasis, it has added meaning for us dee supporters, eh!

Too funny!

When was the last time we heard the phrase" he was unlucky to be dropped" about a Melbourne team.

Jack Grimes kicks it out on the full enough with out us chanting "Dee, fence" at him all the time.

The dogs will likely have Williams, Jones and Crameri as tall forwards. We will likely need 3 tall defenders. The best 3 obviously in McDonald, Garland and Dunn.

But the wildcard is playing Howe on Crameri and freeing up one of those key defenders to play forward. If that was the case I'd rather Dunn forward as a natural forward than Garland who I think should find form first.

The biggest likelihood I think is if Frawley doesn't come up we play small and go with Dawes, Pedersen (2nd ruck/forward) and Watts in the Frawley roll as another lead up target. Whilst Frawley took some decent grabs his main input was to just be another fast leading target to provide an option. There's no reason Watts can't do that as he'd done it before against the dogs.

I hope if Frawley doesn't come up that we play Gawn as a high marking forward in the square and second ruck. Use jamar and big max to run Minson into the ground. Also, we all got excited at the beginning of the year at the prospect of the Three Towers" in the forward line: Clark, Dawes and Hogan. Why not Dawes, Peterson and Gawn. Anyone who watched the swans v hawks last night would have seen how potent that sort of set up could be. Even better: Dawes, Gawn and hogan but that won't happen until towards the end of the season if at all this year. Why not start the process though now? When max was fully fit, the first hit out they had as an inter club match in late January Max was played in the square on Garland I think. He gave him a bath because of his sheer size and considerable marking skill ( although the kicking for goal was a bit of a worry). They should plant him in the square and tell him to assert his strength and powerr like Tippert does. I think we all might be pleasantly surprised.

If it works it could be transformative to our season.

I realise someone had to make way for Garland. But, I can't help feeling for Alex. Really don't think he's put a foot wrong since coming into the side. Only possible positive is that, maybe, he needed a rest and chance to freshen up.

Can't really argue with the choice of who had to go, either, given the two other obvious choices (Pedersen & Dunn) have both been playing good footy.

I guess it's a good sign when it's not easy to decide who to drop to make way for someone who needs to come back, such as Col...

I heard a whisper they were going to rest Geogiou anyway this week (before the Viney incident), but I guess as a result of the collision there may still be lingering concussion implications. In any case, they considered him ready for a rest in view of the fact he has played every game, and his hard checking, hard running committed style was potentially taking its toll considering he was a part time footballer only several months ago. He has been a beauty though for us-.very good left field recruiting I reckon. I love the way the Viney incident illustrated just why he is so effective - he plays close and hard, just as all Backs should. . I have no doubt he will be a regular in the future.

I'm not sure if your being facetious or not...The whole defence (dee fence) thing didn't really need explaining...

Be careful when discussing a 79 year old Vagg.

It's the sort of thing that will get DC splashing on the Old Spice for the Matinee Bingo.

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k
