"Judge us after 5 rounds"

Champagne comedy! Good one Frank Burns.

While our style of play looks improved since last year, the results against teams we would hope to be equal or better than have been disappointing. Mixed bag so far. Not much to hang our hat on. Wait till we play the better clubs, that'll totally screw our percentage.

Reverend!

I thought you had migrated to a foreign land or decided to obstain from AFL.

I've been deep in meditation and reflection as I contemplate the future success of my beloved demons. I've ventured into the desert seeking enlightenment and have returned with renewed optimism. When I asked the question, I heard a dulcet voice proclaim, "Have faith Crawf52, the time is coming." I asked when I could expect to be rewarded for my faith and I was told, "When Vlad departs, Mick realises he's just not up to it and the Bombers get their fair whack. When these three things have come to pass your faith will be rewarded and the Dees will enjoy a century of unparalleled success."

It cant be that far, away can it?

See the improvements and the glaring deficiencies.

Judge us after round 5....

4 losses

1 win

Less than 34,000 members

17th on the ladder

Percentage 69.3%

And are yet to play the better sides.

Better than last year, and when you're better than what you were before it's called "improvement".

WE HAVE IMPROVED, WE ARE BETTER THAN LAST YEAR. We are in the right direction, and are at least competitive, which so many of you said you wanted. But now you have it, you don't want that? We are a [censored] awful football team, who are now slightly less awful and seem to be gaining the respect back from the media AT LEAST.
Next year we will be better still, and so on and so on. When you come from this far back it is gonna take time as we basically had to start again.

fk off Stuie, we are now up to round 6 so move on.

Last year at this time our percentage was 56, this year it's 67.

Now, let me explain... 67 is a higher number than 56. That means so far this year we've improved on the same time last year. Do you see how that works?

Our percentage this year is 67.3 against 56.1 last year after round 6 .

The more interesting stat is that after 6 rounds this year we have conceded at 80.5 points per game. Last year at the same stage we had conceded 140 points per game and at seasons end 122.3 points per game.

I know we are still not winning games but I believe that the tide may be turning and Roos influence is starting to show.

I think we're still a very long way from gaining respect. We're now on the path to regaining it, but it's going to be a long road back.

I agree P-Man

we are still saddled with the worst list in the comp.

It is going to take at least another two draft /trading periods to fix that.

I'm not talking about percentage, I'm talking about 'points for' Stuie you must be blind seriously....look....read....

Haha... Wow. Just when I think you couldn't miss any more obvious points.

We may be averaging 10 points less so far this year, but we're also restricting out opponents to 40 points less.

That's why we talk about percentage and not just points for.

Far out. Special kid you are.

Amazing isn't it considering all the 1st round picks and pp's we were handed....

Those who were in charge must stay right away

Unfortunately Reverend Two of your three conditions are some ways off being resolved.

Mick won last night so his ego is back to " I am the greatest" and the Bombers thing will not be resolved in 2014 if ever.

Look like there is still a long long way to go.

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. Injuries to star play

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los
