Players to target at the end of the year

Featured Replies

sadly, nic nat is off the menu. $4m over 5 years.

$800k a year.

Hopefully this doesn't get into Chip's ear.

If NN is worth 800k/year, then Chip is worth at least 1.6m/year. And that's being modest.

$800k a year. his asa's and third party agreements - both of which he'll make back for the club in spaces due to his marketability, but which means they can't pay to others - will mean it easily tops $1m a season.

I think you misspeled happily.

He is the most overrated dudd next to Matt Kreuzer, gets 5 hitouts and a almost goal of the year and he's the best thing since Wayne Carey.

Not only Chip, what about Gawny check out his stats compared to NicNats, Gawn must be worth $1.5mill per season.

Gawn gets more kicks, more handballs, more hit outs, more goal assists and over 3 times as many contested marks!

So is Gawn that good or is NicNat overrated?

Wow, NicNat and Scully chewing up millions of dollars, this league has far too much money to throw around.

I'd give 'em 300k each if I was feeling generous and I had to choose between them and Damien Gaspar and Aaron Fiora.

NicNat is worth 800k for the Eagles based on marketing alone

Spud player though

I think it's to every other clubs benefit they have paid way overs on his ability. Yes he is good for merchandise sales but Freo are fast cathcing up and a few seasons in a row as WA'S top side will not help Meth Coast

Or if he was in a Melbourne jumper I'm sure you'd say something along the lines of:

'Barely had a pre-season, is clearly injured but is an absolute superstar. And lols at Jack Watts and anyone who'd even dare compare him to NicNat.'

Am I right, am I right?

Depends what time of the day it was.

yes u are right

Cos youd say the exact same thing

I don't get it, why?

Because at 12:00 he'd say exactly what you said.

At 12:05 he'd say the exact opposite.

Yeah, coz Dees fans don't eat their own do they?

And DA was pointing out that h_h has a tendency, no, a penchant for saying something definitively and then walking away from what he just said at the flick of the electro-therapists switch.

no, not all. but a few of us support some, when necessary; but also want to bite other players on the backside, to get them off it & moving, & doing something. DO

Not sure it has been discussed but what are people's thoughts on Tom Rockliff from Brisbane ? And what do you think it would take to get him to Melbourne ?

I think he is a great player and would add another good solid young midfielder to our list but would not be as costly as other more large profile players.

We had a red hot go at Rockliff last year, and couldn't get any movement with pick 2 on the table. We should have picked him in the PSD after he trained with us, because I don't think we're much chance now.

gibbs signing for four or five years at the blues.

impact upon us is that the salary ear-marked for gibbs by the crows will be flashed around a bit. they made murmurings about chasing chip previously, but really i think the focus should be on dangerfield and sloane.

What about Toump and a first rounder for Rockliff ? Unlikely that they would go for it I guess

It's got nothing to do with stats. Meth coast supporters love him over here. I ask them why and in all honesty they can't answer specifically. It's all because of his look and the money he brings in.

That is the greatest understatement in Demonland history

lol at anyone who says differently

p.s. Watts is a culture killer and all his teammates must hate him. He is also the best set shot in the league and our most important re-signing.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Collingwood

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • AFLW REPORT: St. Kilda

The Dees demolished the Saints in a comprehensive 74-pointshellacking.  We filled our boots with percentage — now a whopping 520.7% — and sit atop the AFLW ladder. Melbourne’s game plan is on fire, and the competition is officially on notice.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasn’t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's  six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his team’s unfulfilled potential rang true … well, almost.
