Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Players to target at the end of the year

This thread is irrelevant now. Kiss any chance any GWS player wanting to come to us. They would laugh in our face after yesterday effort.

Our best bet is delisted free agent now.. meh

Not only pathetically defeatist, but not even moderately accurate.

sign up okeefe now.
Who are we kidding, he would probably be our best player.

Yes he's old, but what he will bring in leadership and experience will be massive.

Get these boys some mentors.

A stern grill won't do the job, they need to be shown how to do it and be able to replicate.

Cross was a good start, add to it with R OKeefe.

If we can get 2 top ten picks, Draft one and trade 1 in a bad to bring mid aged competent players, e.g. cameron.

We could bring in Okeefe, Malceski, through free agency, though this would more than wipe the frawley comp pick. So we would be left with pick 2 from the draft, We could potentially trade pick 2 and our first second rounder for mitchel and Reid, would that get the job done? a lot of players from sydney :s.

Or scrap the mitchel and reid deal,

trade pick 2, second rounder and a player for cameron and sheil or trelor.

That would yield us an old dog mid, a young gun mid, a massive forward duo (cameron and hogan) and an experienced smooth back men.

That would go a long way to fixing our problems.

We wouldn't have a problem, making room for them either.

nut adding a player to that deal might be tricky, blease as steak knives/project player might do it.

However we will need to bring in more players toy fill the gaps for the players that will be delisted. Maybe through the rookie draft.

How does Petracca compare to the top mids of previous years? Is Brayshaw and Petracca better then Aish Bontempelli and Mccrae?

Petracca is a very different player, but he is seriously dominant, because it's relative to the competition it's hard to judge but Petracca in my opinion has been the most dominant under 18's player I have seen in the last couple of years,

Brayshaw is probably not as impressive as the boys you mentioned in my eyes, although I didn't think much of Aish or McCrae at first so he might well be just as good,

really hard to know until the player is at AFL level

personally I think Ahern has the tools to be a really good player, wouldn't be upset if we pull the trigger a little early there.

Not sure if he has been mentioned, but what about targeting Liam Jones from the dogs? Not managing a game there but could be dangerous in our forward line and under Paul Roos..

Petracca will be like dustin Martin. So basically we will have a dustin Martin in our team which ain't too bad.

think Jake Stringer, he's a bit taller and a better mark than Dusty, he has a little bit of Fyfe about him

Hard to say. Bontempelli looks like one out of the box.

Rule of thumb is to always take the proven players over potential superstars.

Draftees are just potential.

Collingwood were desperate to get him, even with what looked like way overs for a while there

I reckon we go big time for Ablett, Roughead, Dangerfield, Talia and Fyfe. If we get those guys in we can be competitive Maybe. Although I admit we may have to give up something to get these guys, say Blease, Tappy, Strauss perhaps.

Sorry I just woke up!

Wait nvm. I just found out his speed and agility is elite. Maybe we have a Dangerfield on our hands :)

Also we should be set to get 4 of the midfielders who are in the 2014 U 18 all Australian in Petracca, Brayshaw, Stretch, and Wright...not too bad IMO

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
