we could easily be 3-1 and have the Crows, Swans, Suns and Dogs as our next 4 games and i reckon we could win all 4,

i still think we need at least another good trade and draft period

Well we have the money. Must win more games and go down fighting in the ones we don't. Need to minimise blowouts.

Let's not get too carried away... We just won our first game in 12 matches.

Aiming to win the premiership is getting carried away.

Aiming to make the finals should be the norm.

We have a very easy draw, compared to others, and our list can play good footy, and we have the best coach in the league.

Not aiming to make the finals is a losers mentality.

I agree to an extent.

The CLUB should be aiming to make the finals (though this should be more a week at a time kind of thing). We, as supporters, though should probably be realistic.

We don't want to end up like Richmond and if we don't make finals, then we go nuts and demand blood. We need to be realistic as to what the players can deliver and play towards that.

.

I disagree. I think the CLUB should be realistic. We SUPPORTERS have the option to dream because deep down we know that no matter what we do or what opinion we hold, we can't really affect anything.

I agree but I come to a different conclusion. Why beat yourself up over something you can't effect?

The club should never put a ceiling on what the players can achieve (or at least not express this to them). It's the main reason we were so crap from 2008 to 2013 (and onwards). The club told the players they were crap and always would be unless they lost and then draft picks would replace the current bunch of scrubs. Horrible, horrible messaging coming from the top crushed whatever spirit the players had.

So who out of Collingwood, Sydney, kangas, essendon and Port are we going to be good enough to kick out of the finals race? Love some of your enthusiasm but it is laughable! 2 weeks ago this place was in meltdown due to our ineptitude! 6 wins would be a huge pass this year!

I think we can beat Collingwood, Sydney, Kangas. Port and Essendon, from the last that I heard, are running onto the field with 18 players, same as us. Lets give it a shot.

Laugh away.

I really don't know what you're trying to achieve in this thread. How does a finals team differ from a best team, which has been discussed many times over?

It just seems like you're saying "let's aim for finals" so you can reserve bragging rights in the one in a million chance event that we do play finals this year.

Wait until next week at least. For god's sake, we've only just beaten a dishevelled Carlton. Cool your jets.

Easy draw?

We were beaten by all 17 other teams last year! How can we consider any draw easy?

I'm all for optimism but if we make finals I'll eat my membership scarf!

Its fine to have a losers mentality, however, it becomes an issue when it gets in the way of the people that can win.

If you are a permament loser, just get out of the way for the winners who wanna take this club forward.

Neeld was sacked predominetly useless because he thought we were crap. He was [censored] No.1. The worst coach I have ever seen. OMG.

Now its time for the loser supporters to get out of the way of people who wanna get to the finals, and as quickly as possible.

the best way to change the culture, is to change your goals.

One contest at a time, YES

One game at a time, YES

One season at a time, HELL YES!!!

Its 2014, not 2016, and I think we should be aiming to make the finals this year. No point looking backwards, we should use all our energy to 'smash' the moment and move forward.

Gold Coast is the next task. I think we can beat them out our home soil. Do you?

GC are a far better team than Carlton. We could beat them..... We still won't play finals.

The very purpose of our life is happiness, which is sustained by hope. We have no guarantee about the future, but we exist in the hope of something better. Yeah, yeah. I'm all for positivity and ambition. We must have that as a club, but then as a supporter, you must temper these goals with realism, not stupidity.

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full

    MEANWHILE by Whispering Jack

… meanwhile, at about the same time that Narrm was putting its feet on the accelerator to obliterate the long-suffering Euro-Yroke combination, I heard someone mention in passing that Kuwarna was leading Waalitj Marawar by a whopping 46 to 1 halfway through the second quarter of their game over in Adelaide. “What is football coming to?” I asked myself.  In front of my eyes, the Demons were smashing it through the midfield, forcing turnovers and getting the footy to their forwards who w
