Seems like a definite scoring end and that Casey failed to take advantage of it in the first quarter. Nothing better than losing a toss on a windy day I reckon. Hate kicking with the wind first.

The toump had 29 touches, clisby had 22, Shannon Byrnes had 21 and kicked 3, whilst nev jetta and the skipper Evan Panozza had 21 also.

Salem had some really good passages and ended up with 20 touches and bagged 2 majors including a pearler from near the boundary line with just a few minutes left in the game.

Next week is a tough assignment when both the seniors and the development league sides trek to frankston to take on the dolphins.

From what you saw, who will be in line to replace Terlich?

Possibly Clisby who played well. I suppose if Col Garland played well and pulls up strongly after the game he could be an outside chance.

It would appear that Toumpas has no trouble finding the footy at VFL level. His next challenge is to try and bring this up into senior footy.

A career high of 21 touches isn't too bad, but he really needs to be getting 20+ every week eventually if he's going to reach his potential.

the kid just turned 20. He will reach his potential, but we need to let him develop.

He has played ok at senior level, and now has had 2 games in a row at VFL level where he has had 25+ disposals. i think he is tracking just fine.

Yep. I'm not sure when in the last 7 years we've ever allowed one of our high draft picks to go back and dominate at vfl level and prove they can do it. Toumpas has now had great numbers two weeks ina row. Great for confidence and self belief.

The confidence you get from playing well in any of the leagues can't be undervalued. So, so important to taste success.

Roos will give him a few more weeks down there to get his confidence higher and higher, which will hopefully translate to smarter and cleaner disposal.

IMO fitzy has dropped back from last years form. at VFL level definately. He's not going at it as hard. lost confidence? overawed?

He needs to take the bit between his teeth & harden up some, IMO. he's not ready in his attitude yet.

Spencer is showing the attitude. It took him a while to get to this years level. & he's got a long way to go yet. Fitzy needs to take a page from the Spencer book. Attack son, attack.

Righfully so Song, but in Trengove's case I really hope he does find that form and win back his place.

I believe he is one of the players who has put his hand up and made sacrifices to try and drag our club out of where it is. Taking on the role of captain was not something he should have been asked to do, taking on the responsibility of setting an example that your senior team mates can't is something I will always admire him for.

I hope that he can regain a love of the game and find his feet with some basic form at Casey and develop in ways that were denied to him over the past 3 seasons.

Whatever happens I believe his experiences will hold him in good stead for life after footy, but I think he deserves the chance of redemption at our footy club. It will be a great story if he can pull it all together and play for another 8-10 years. Don't forget he won't turn 23 until the off season; if/when he puts it together he still has the potential of a long career ahead of him.

My point more was that he had some limitations in preseason, was knocked out in round 1, played in a drubbing in round 2 and then played in pouring rain in round 3. Overall they aren't ideal conditions. A few weeks in the VFL and he might come back in and be ok in the ruck and kick a couple of goals most weeks up forward especially if he comes in to a team that's actually moving the ball and has other forward options. If there is no difference to the scoreboard either way I'd rather Fitzy as second ruck than Jamar or Pedersen.

Another player to watch when match fit is Riley, improved as the game progressed. Very in and under type players with lots of grunt. Umpires didn't seem to like him though

I wonder whether he's just developed too much of a defensive mindset and he can't break out of it.

I remember that game when scores were even with less than a minute to go and he just grabbed the moment and went third man up at a bounce and hit it through for a point to win the game. He was often in the right place at the right time in his first couple of years, but Neeld put him so far back in his shell mentally he's too scared to take any initiative.

In which case he's best to stay at Casey until he's got his initiative back,and he's again trying to make things happen rather than slow things down.

Great to hear Jetta was able to follow up on his performance last week. Would love to see him get another chance In a team that has some self belief.

Toumpas and Salem were the two I most hoped would show something so sounds Ike that wish was granted.

On Trenners, if the standard against Carlton can be maintained (irrespective of results), It may be a while before he works his way back into the team. We can't afford to let momentum slip in order to carry him. The ball movement was so much quicker this week and it wasn't coincidental.

Not saying it that this is the case for you Lamashtu, but that statement is very subjective for quite a few on these forums. How often have we seen players who have performed well at VFL level and amassed plenty of possessions described as being just great VFL players that will never cut it at AFL level.
