Paul Roos on AFL360

Agree, Robbie. It's just not gonna happen though, unless we absolutely play out of our skins on Sunday.

It is going to happen.....

It is going to happen.....

You drunk Wyl, not like you to be this positive, not that I'm complaining

Haha, I hope you're right, mate. Very, very happy to be proved wrong.

Things can turn around very quickly in footy, but this is the mfc we're talking about.

No, this is the AFL dressed in Red & Blue your seeing.

Just said he took the entire list to watch today's game to see where they need to get to.

I bet there were a few who wondered what game was being played...

Best news i have heard in years...

Their old mate Jared put in....see what happens....

I'm amazed the players don't otherwise take themselves to the game.

If you're a forklift driver do you go and watch other forklift drivers move pallets on your day off? In saying that..I know what you're saying...

that is actually a smart idea. Its the 2 teams that are top of the ladder and where we have to get to. Hopefully they saw teammates back each other up, man up tackle and put a lot of pressure on.

Would have been a great 360 with 2 losing coaches on. I suspect Bomber would have been more disappointed than Roos.

Some do, some don't. Some don't like watching other sides, some for superstitious reasons, some just don't like it.

Regardless, the real value in this is not simply that the players saw a good game - they can do that at any time really. It's the act of Roos bringing the team together and demanding that, at once, straight after a loss, they be subjected to, and be asked to critically learn from, the high watermark of the game right now. It will do a lot more from them when it's required of them by Roos and they do it as a group.

You do if you're want to become the best forklift driver in the business.

You do if you're want to become the best forklift driver in the business.

Or if you keep dropping the pallets, running into the shelving or falling out the seat.

I wonder if that's Jordan Gysberts of Cale Morton driving?

But if your as bad a fork lift driver as Melbourne is at playing football then maybe you should take a few lessons from the best

If you're the type of player that doesn't like watching other teams for "superstitious reasons", you can right well F off!

How the hell are you supposed to scout your opponent and truly understand how a team plays if you're only going to watch, say, a few minutes before you play them?

I wonder if that's Jordan Gysberts of Cale Morton driving?

Its Cale. I can tell by how quickly he moved to avoid any impact.

I was thinking myself watching the Cats v Hawks that I hoped every MFC player watched it all.....and hopefully Roos will sit them all down together at one of their "planning sessions" or whatever they do behind closed doors when not actually doing physical stuff, and go through parts of the game demanding that they understand and commit to what is required for success. It was an uncompromising game, exciting for the most part (other than that bloody kicking backwards in keepings-off ) and if our guys are committed to improving their own and the team's performances they could do well to emulate what they saw.

Here's hoping though realistically not really expecting

so im assuming he is on tonight? I presume the first question will be about Watts and even Howe and what else he said. Any reports would be great.

Said unfair to focus just on watts......have been trying him in a lot of positions as they have been trying a lot of people in different positions & they might have to look at themselves (coaches) they might be doing the wrong thing. Bomber also reiterated that he gives players lots of chances

  • NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round

Finally the 2026 AFL Premiership Season is upon us. While Melbourne sits out Opening Round, there is still plenty of footy to enjoy with five non-MFC clashes to kick off the new season. It all begins on Thursday night with a blockbuster at the SCG as Sydney hosts Carlton in what should be a strong early test for both sides. On Friday night, Gold Coast gets its chance to open the season in front of a home crowd when the Suns and Christian Petracca take on Geelong at People First Stadium. Saturday features a double-header, starting in the afternoon with Greater Western Sydney and Clayton Oliver meeting the Hawks at Engie Stadium. That is followed on Saturday night by Brisbane Lions hosting the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba, with the Lions embarking on their campaign to win the Threepeat. Opening Round wraps up on Sunday night at the MCG, where St Kilda takes on Collingwood in the only game in town in the first week of the season. There is no shortage of storylines across the round, so discuss all the action from the non-MFC games of Opening Round.
