Dees winless in rounds 1 & 2 since 2005

That's a pretty disappointing stat. Means a lot of our enthusiasm has been dented early, for the last 10 years.

A decade of misery when you think about that stat Redleg it is very surprising that we can still muster 30 000 members a week before the first game.

I dream of what would happen if we ever win the first two games!

Our membership willl be affected by the first two rounds, positively or negatively. A couple of early wins will give some real hope for improvement, especially with good players still out.

I am confident of a win against the Saints but would like to see atleast one of Dawes, Hogan or Clark out there. It would be a blow not to win round 1 but not a disaster.

Well it may not be a disaster but if we cannot beat the saints in their current condition then the first game at the G will be a thrashing.

It shows the value of early wins, if we could snag wins against Saints and GWS, i know GWS have improved but so have we so we should view them as very winnable games, 2 wins in our first 3 games would be huge for our confidence through the season and could lead to 6-10 wins, although lose those games and we could have another terrible year, these first 3 rounds set the tone

50% of teams lose in round 1.

Yes but not every year right?

Every year the same - optimism shattered in the first quarter of round 1

I sincerely hoping for a good start to the season and will be at Etihard to watch them win!

Me too but with zero confidence.

Yes but without a forward line it is a possibility

To be honest, I think Fitzy, Howe and Pedersen is a bloody good 2nd choice forward line.

Not many teams would have the same luxury of our big 3 first choice forwards, but even less would have that depth.

It's not ideal, but I think we'll cope ok.

Pedersen !!

Maybe at Casey.

Honestly Machsy he was fourth choice after the current trio out injured.

what's more frightening, that post, or the fact it has a bunch of likes?

the odds of any side losing the opening two rounds 8 years in a row is 1-in-512.. so yeah that is less than 0.2%.. so it is pathetic and inexcusable

go ahead and be glib to make yourself feel better though

Really? What have Pederson and Fitzy done even in this pre-season to make you think they can play a key position forward role once the real thing starts?

Howe is definitely a third tall option and a good one and lock him in for that role but only if we get blokes playing the primary key position roles with some effect.

Howe has to improve his consistency and reliability. Seems to rely heavily on others and falls out of games when we're behind. Really hope he takes it to another level this year

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
