There are a host of restricted agents who have left and gone to the club of their choice. Goddard, Troy Chaplin, Dale Thomas, Monfries and Crameri are just a recent few off the top of my head.

Restricted, or unrestricted makes no difference in my view. Clubs no longer hog tie a player who wants to go if they're restricted, or unrestricted. They may well try and change their mind, or play hardball, as Essendon did with Crameri and the Dogs, but in the end they didn't stop him.

You would have to be an idiot to take a pay cut at the age of 26 the next contract he signs is the one that sets him up for life RF or URF makes no difference to the MFC.

Didn't surprise me that Frawley is not even in our top 10 as far as 2013 or 2014 payments go. The guy is a turnover merchant and is basically a one-position player. I know he had a front-ended contract, but he wouldn't be in my top 10 at the club.

Roos probably rates him at this stage, as he nearly had a coronary when he thought Frawley did a knee on the weekend.

I reckon he will go. Another club will be able to pay him over the odds and guarantee finals in 2015. Depending on the Watts experiment in the midfield in 2014, a Frawley exit might mean that Watts and McDonald become the 2 pillars of an MFC defence IMO. Watts doesn't turn the ball over.

It is all about the free movement of players.

If it was not for the AFL putting up some sort of fight we would have total free agency.

The only people that gain from free agency are the rich and powerful clubs and the players

I honestly believe Frawley wants to stay but the lure of success and money may lure him out. Careers are short and you'd want to cash in if you can.

Having said that if Roos takes up the 3rd year and we can have a competitive year you just never know... If he goes Georgiou gets upgraded.

Yes and it amazing how often they turn out to be correct.

Actually, I don't mind players (and politicians) lying about their own personal decisions. It's their business. As long as it doesn't affect their day job, I couldn't care less if a player is contemplating better offers while denying doing so...or if a US President is cheating on his wife.

Very poor planning by the club.

Front-loaded his contract so now his pay is outside the top 25%. Top teams will be lining up for him. Can't see how the club will be able to match an offer from top-tier teams like Hawthorn, Swans, Pies, even Dockers who will all have big pay-packer players retiring and will have the room to afford him.

You mean Lions fans are laughing about not having to pay $500,000 for a guy that can't get on the park?

Why couldn't we match an offer? Who else are we paying? Sorry forgot about Mitch, the bloke some people are supposedly laughing at? At a guess he would be on closer to 800k, but how much of his was front loaded.
