POSITION VACANT - forum footy organiser

Recommended Posts

After 8 years, and with the urging of my family and staff, it is time for me to hang up the boots (or I should say the clipboard).

There are any number of talented people on here who could take up the job.

I am happy to hand over all relevant files and records, and I will be happy to assist the new organiser with advice and information for as long as needed.

Thanks for 8 years of great memories.

And special thanks to Whispering Jack and Demonland, whose support has been unflagging.

Anyone who is interested in the job is welcome to post on this thread or contact me direct by pm or email ([email protected]) or on my mobile (0408 698 328).

Regards to all.

Agreed...well done.

Maybe Andrew DumbItriou could apply -- he so obviously loves our club.

well done and thanks rollo

i might be interested. anyone know how much it pays.....i don't come cheap

8 cents per day.

minus 4 cents per day for tax.

you only get paid the days you work.

all other financial questions ,should be relayed to the bookkeeper.[currently residing on the political thread]

All of us who have enjoyed playing over the years owe Rollo a huge debt of gratitude for his efforts and commitment to forum footy, going way back to the inaugural game versus Saintastional at Glenferrie Oval. Thank you mate.

Hope you'll still come down for a watch every so often.

As an aside, I'd love a look at the match records and would be happy to take on the statistician/historian aspect of the gig.

Well done Rollo you have provided the opportunity for many ( myself included ) to have a fun day, involved with other Dees supporters and experiencing many wins, which lately hasn't been the case with our senior team.

Enjoy your retirement, watching our beloved Dees climb up the ladder.

hey, wise (aka etc)...

Forgot to thank you for making my job (and every coach's job) so much easier...

your on-field leadership has always been exceptional...

when (if) you have time, use the search engine on here and enter "forum footy"...

if there are gaps, I may be able to supply the info from my records...

Since our first game in 2006, the records show we have played about 15 games, with a 14-1 win/loss record...

I intend to come and watch and help out each and every time...

but history tells us (hawkheadquarters, saintsaitional, talkingcarlton) that without a dedicated organiser, forum footy will die on demonland...

haven't played in a few years but just wanted to say thanks rollo for doing an awesome job organising everything.

great work mate.

thanks, mate...

your site name is not in our records...

what was your site name when you played ??

(want to make sure the records are as up to date as possible before passing them on to the new organiser)...

STILL NO EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST !!

I assume we are all happy for demonland forum footy to die ??

Without an organiser, we are back to 2007...

11 guys turned up and we lost (only loss ever) to saintsational...

hawkheadquarters, saintsational, talkingcarlton, nick's pies site all dropped out of forum footy because they had no organiser...

will demonland join the list of has-beens ??

JOB DESCRIPTION – FORUM FOOTY ORGANISER

When challenged to a game, the organiser posts a thread on site to check the suitability of the proposed date, and then confirms the date with the other side.

The organiser then

- posts the details on site

- sends the details to the past players, coaches, helpers and umpires by text, email and pm.

The organiser updates the thread as acceptances and apologies come in.

A few days before the game, the organiser sends out reminders to the players, helpers and umpires by text, email and pm.

On game day, the organiser arrives early, allocates jobs to the helpers, updates the contact details, especially for new players, pays the umpires and hands over the best-player medallion. The organiser leaves late, making sure the venue is not despoiled by rubbish left by people attending.

On game day, or soon after, the organiser posts the official match report – final scores, goalkickers and best player.

Each game is an investment of 12 hours for the organiser – approximately 6 hours pre-game and another 6 hours on game day.

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k
