14.10.1996 Height: 179cm Weight: 74kg
Small defender who is an elite left foot kick which helps set up his team on the rebound and from kick-ins. Reads the play exceptionally well, averaging 18.8 disposals at 79.3 per cent effectiveness during the NAB AFL U18 Championships and winning South Australia's MVP. To cap off an outstanding championships he was also named in the All Australian U18 team in defence.

7.7.1996 Height: 167cm Weight: 68kg
Small forward who is a prolific ball winner, makes great decisions and executes well by hand or foot. Shows the ability to bring others into the game. Had an outstanding last three games of the U18 Championships, averaging 20 disposals at 92 per cent efficiency and two goals per game on his way to winning All Australian honours.

Caleb Daniel was the kid that dominated the last two games SA played in recent Championships. Although only small he was impossible to tackle and his skills both hand and feet were excellent.

At Roosy's pie night I spoke about Wright, Petracca, Brayshaw etc to Paul during the QA session. I finished my question by talking about this kid.Caleb Daniel I'm sure that he had never heard of him and when I said that he was only 168cm he laughed. Do you mean 186cm. No Paul 168. Laughter....laughter.

I said that this kid dominated and would be a fan favourite Laughter....laughter.

He obviously thought he was too small but my God no other kid took my notice as much as this player. Matt Campbell and Liam Pickering who were commentating were rapt in him.

He has firmed in some of the phantom drafts but could slide to a late pick because of this height. I would love this kid at MFC.

From what i saw he was ballantine mark 2. Disappointing to hear that they laughed at the thought of him.. Watch his highlights, better than most i saw from the carnival.

In my opinion Dubdee it was 7 years of drafting the wrong sort of players. Schwab and Prendergast seemed obsessed with nice boys of the highest character. Name me a competitive mongrel amongst Watts, Scully, Trengove, Cook, Gysberts, Blease, Tapscott, Toumpas? The Development was also non-existent once they got here, of course, but other clubs have found stars in the last 7 drafts.

I don't think you sacrifice the chance to bring in a potential A grader for the sake of multiple B-Graders (i.e. I believe Essendon offered Myers and Colyer last year for pick 2) just because we've been burnt in the past. You've got a much better chance of finding a Franklin, Roughead, Cotchin, Pendlebury etc at the pointy end of the draft.

I want Roos to rebuild the place properly and bring in some kids that possess traits to be elite players, develop them properly over the next 2 seasons, and in 5 seasons might be in Mike Sheahan's top 10 players in the league. I don't want a team of B-D graders - they don't win you games.

I hear what you are saying. we have definately drafted the wrong sort. But I think you can trade in stars. Apart from Hogan I see Tyson as the player with the biggest star potential on our list. So I reckon a combination on good trades and kids in draft is the go. unless no-one trades reasonably and if so, we hit the draft and hope for some stars. Lets hope the draft is more 2001 and less 2003 (although I get the feeling it more 2003)

I can't understand why we would trade pick 2 & miss out on a gun mid like Petracca. Where is the sense in that? You should always take the best available in the draft & he sounds like it. I'm sick of us stuffing up big time at the draft table so by overlooking Petracca & taking a less quality player in Brayshaw makes no sense at all.

What makes you say brayshaw is a lesser quality player? Have you actually seen either play?

I have and both are high quality, a level above the other kids on field and with different strengths.

Don't worry whoever gets brayshaw will be very happy with his quality.

I found it hard to split them. So interested to know what makes petracca so much better?

Agree with this. The Saints are desperate for a quality tall forward so Nick isn't carrying the side on his own, but they also only have a couple of decent mids and their backline are all getting to their used-by date. They even need a ruck. There is seriously no area where they don't need players, so it's far from a sure thing that they'll take a tall early, especially if they can trade for one from somewhere.
