Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

The longer he takes to get back on the paddock the more likely he never will.

Its been a while already.

Dreamers dream on.

How dare you come on here with your negative attitudes.

The next thing is you will be suggesting you are a realist or similar.

Good God man don't you see we should be considering a contract extension.

So we paid $3.2 million for someone to be in a leadership group, that's value beyond the games lol, If you took reigns of this club it would be wound up in 6 months the clubs done its balls and they know it and the sooner this debacle is finished the better because there's no way the MFC will offer him another contract.

Well, if I took over the MFC and we were only going to last 6 months, my first course of business would be to cancel your membership. It wouldn't be logical and it certainly wouldn't be fair, but I don't think I'd care.

You simply have no idea you don't pay millions to players for off field leadership, you want on field as well so run along back to class young man.

The problem is that no one actually knows the full situation or can predict the future, including yourself.

So call a spade a spade all you like, but it has absolutely nothing to do with Mitch Clark's situation.

It's a complicated issue, but I think many on Demonland struggle with that more than posting pictures of hardware.

I would struggle - it looks more like a shovel than a spade. Call a shovel a spade will you?

But at least in this case we have the information in the form of a picture. We don;t have the equivalent information in the case of Mitch.

And strangely black holes are calculated by exactly what cant be defined.

I would suggest it depends what youre trying to define.

If its the likelyhood of him returning anytime soon if ever as a Melbourne player Id think theres pretty well all the info required.

As to how well or how long before he can overcome his demons, that well might be an intangible.

I fervently hope he does on both accounts but suspect only the latter matter may be achieved in time

Right.... So tell us, is mental illness a "spade" or a "black hole"?

FMD.

(Assuming as you are that mental illness is the problem here)

And that gentlemen (and ladies if there any any left) is all we know. The rest is speculation. Assign probabilities as you wish, but don't claim to be certain.

Assuming that's the problem then one would think the chances of having him up and about within a couple of months would be reasonable with the right treatment, by which time his physical issues would also have been sorted out and if he maintains a good fitness regimen during that period and recovers well, he would be available in the second half of the season.

These things manifest themselves in different ways but I know of one player from another club who had issues with his mental health and overcame them in good time. Let's hope that it all turns out well for Mitch.

With respect MJT, did you take any lesson out of your previous position " there is not a hope in hell that Paul Roos will coach Melbourne - lets all move on" ?

Nothing to do with the thread nutbean but doing this always amuses me.

Why is it that we all do this?

We know we are going to disrespect the person so we put those three words first and then do exactly that "disrespect" them.

But then we feel ok because we put in the disclaimer.

I guess by now I should not be surprised at the human condition but I am.

Exactly !!!! Perfect call and glad you brought it up. I said I had no idea whether he would stay or go but was willing to take him at face value. I did say I took him at his word that he he envisaged he would stay but stressed I had no idea what would eventuate. The same as I am doing with Mitch now ( please feel free to go back and check exactly what I said in that thread.

I have been accused of sitting on the fence and happily accept that because if I don't know something I won't make a wild pronouncement either way.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
