Have tried to erase it from memory but can remember feeling drained of all emotion and the palpable shock was only tempered by the elderly demon supporter in front of us who suffered a heart attack and had to be attended by medical support. Just outright confusion and disbelief, quiet surreal. I cannot even remember where we went to drown our sorrows and relive the drama but certainly it will only be erased with a flag.

It is interesting to read all this and realize almost 30 years ago we all had that sick numb sad feeling.

And there was nothing we could do to stop it...

Still hurts to this day. Didn't help that the car i was a passenger in that day was parked next to the Whorethorn Cheer Squad Van!!

Didn't they let us nknow....

Did we beat Carlton during the season?

The only consolation after the Hawthorn match was that we were buggar all chance to knock off the Blues. They were a cut above that year

Hawks ended up getting done by 33 and Robbie was pretty much no chance to play (although that point has been argued on here before)

It was an amazing few weeks of footy for Melbourne supporters

I developed an intense hatred for the Dawks supporters that day; in my stricken state after the game leaving the ground we were followed by 3 jeering gloating scumbags. I ignored them but could not believe how they behaved having fallen over the line as they did. Hate them more than the filth!!!

Re the following week, several players were injured not the least of which was Robbie who from memory did his knee in the last quarter and would have almost definitely missed the following week.

I was at the game.... it sucked.

I too was there with my 10 year old son, he was inconsolable, cried all the way home and shut himself in his bedroom.

Was in the pocket when Eishold took the mark close to goal in the pocket, I felt he didn't want it...

I didn't cry but probably consumed numerous glasses of whatever afterwards..........

I was behind the goals at the Scoreboard end where all the misses took place in the last quarter. Tony Campbell's miss was worse for me than Eishold's. He had Robby on his own on the goal line screaming for the ball with no one near him and Campbell ignored him, blazed away and missed. Still one of the most traumatic events of my life even though we would almost certainly have lost the next week in freak over 32oC heat and with a multitude of key injuries.

I went home from the game to my gorgeous Qld girlfriend who told me I was an [censored] for being so upset about a stupid game of sport. I told her we weren't on the same planet and split up with her. I had a bad nights sleep, got up the next morning late and rushed off to a game of footy. Didn't have time to strap my ankles and didn't worry about it. Took a mark on a lead and my right foot went into a divet on the ground as I came down. I kept going and my foot stayed behind. It ended up sticking out sideways. Basically snapped my foot off. Five operations later, my very insignificant footy career was over. I wasn't too upset about the girlfriend but I still suffer to this day from the ankle and the game when I see topics like this and are reminded of it.

    With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals.     The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm.
