Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Most of these journalists would have lauded Richmond endlessly for a masterstroke had they been able to prize Tyson away from GWS at the end of last 2012. The annoying thing is Barrett and Denham, in particular, can't even get there head around the fact that that the trade wasn't a straight swap of Tyson for Pick 2, nor do they even go close to examining where Tyson would be drafted in this year's draft pool if he was in it, which is one of the the important considerations when assessing the trade before the materials of it have had a chance to play. Tyson could very easily have been picked high in the top 10 given his attributes in this draft pool. Kelly is class so the likelihood is a win-win for both clubs.

Barrett admits he knows nothing about Tyson and I can guarantee you neither of them have seen Kelly play so it is just uninformed opinion based on 2nd and 3rd hand information.

All this waiting for the draft to come is starting to annoy me. I think the build up this year has felt to me longer and more drawn out. As for pick 9, Im not to fussed as i havnt followed the U/18s comp, being away from the football scene up here in Canberra. All i have to go on is what is posted on here and on the AFL updates but i guess we will see tonight after the first 8 picks have been named then Roos and co will pick what they feel will be the best fit for what we need/want out of whats left.

I think we have already won with this draft period. Hogan would have gone in the pointy end of the draft and to have secured him last year and then get Tyson and pick 9 (etc) for our pick 2 (etc) gives us 2 pics in the top 10. I think whoever we pick up at 9, 40 and 57 will have the best chance, with the new football department, of being developed into a AFL footballer. It is essentially a lottery in the end. Being a U/18 superstar doesnt always translate into being a AFL superstar. We should know

Almost every phantom draft has Sheed going to WCE at 11. Most have some variance with other choices but nobody seems to think that a club would bite the bullet and take a risk with this player at 7 or 9 for eg.

Why?

WCE are going to look pretty stupid if Sheed isn't available at #11. They wouldn't have given up #6 so easily if they weren't confident he'd still be there by then.

Much is made about where this kid goes or that one. Along the way the media gets into its head as to where the coins ought to fall and that becomes the de facto foundation of expectations. Taylor rightly points out in his looking towards the drafty it comes down to where the clubs feel they have players sorted and the clubs go off of their estimations NOT the media's.

I cant imagine Melbourne will have traded and got 9 if it wasnt happy with who will be there at 9. They obviously expect any of up to about 5 players to be there and happy to take any of them as they fall or present. Similarly the club has ideas about 40.. personally after 40 its a dart board job as to who knows who is left at any given point

The club must feel Scharenberg is a chance to slide but in all probability its just due diligence and didnt want to be caught napping or unawares. we have obviously got a much more shrewd bunch at the table now.

There are always surprises and clever gambits at the draft, lets just hope we get it half way right for a change. Our selections last visit werent too bad and as such I think it reasonable to think we wont do any worse and hopefully better.

Wouldn't be surprised if we take Patrick Cripps.

All Australian
192cm midfielder (Roos suggested we need taller mids)
Ready to go

Compares himself to Ollie Wines
Comes across well in his interview below
People suggesting we are certain the player we want will be there at pick 9

I studied it carefully and its looking like Salem, from Scharenberg and freeman.

Salem has the lot really, pace attitude, size and skill.

Maybe they were after Acres all along.

Who really knows.

The buzz over here in WA is that he's a lock.

Not if Scharenberg is available.

I reckon its a monty it will be Scharenberg or salem, depending who is available, and what type roos is after.

Received a questionable sourced rumour that we might actually pick Dom Sheed at pick 9. I doubt its accurate but we'll wait and see.

id be happy with Salem, Freeman, Sheed, Scharenberg or Aish. Not keen on Billings.

Entirely possible - I heard a whisper about a month ago that he was who we wanted. If so, they've kept him under wraps well and done well in the old subterfuge department.

There is Kelly (184cm, 75kg) but he may go before our pick! He went to Brighton Grammar as did Chris Dawes and Jack Watts.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
