I agree but the fact he still did not get a game in the worst midfield in the comp by a country mile must mean that his game style lacks basic skills that are needed.

Neeld for his faults was a very successful midfield coach....

Something is lacking in James' game that we the outsider are not privvy to.

Both coaches kept him in the Magoos....

Yet he hasn't been delisted yet, like Crouch.....so FD sees something in him still, even if he falls of the list later..Maybe they had a policy, supported by Neeld and Craig, to play kids only in the middle, whether they were getting smashed week after week or not.

(Don't forget Tambling got a 3 yr contract at the crow under Craig's watch - his judgement not always good.)

Fair call. I hope he stays. But there are parts of his game that are obviosly lacking.

I think Magner's issue is that he not good at running forward of the ball to get into attacking positions.

I get annoyed when a guy like Magner doesnt get a fair go at it. His 1st year while still finding his feet in the big time, he showed enough to persist with.

It was said Neeld decided to turn him into a tagger, that was the last we seen of him. I can only guess he was left to rot at Casey until he learnt Neelds way.

He is no greyhound, but he can find the pill.beamer was no speedster either. I would like to see how he goes under a decent coach, before cutting him loose.

With the influx of some handy mids he either steps up, or he is gone. But at least he/ we find out one way or the other. I know times have changed, but Juice had 7 years clogging the list, Magner gets a sniff, and ,more than likely never to be seen again. He'll never be a superstar, but hoping they give him a fair go.

The rest cut themselves by their actions and lack of effort.

I'm not sure if there's any easy way to get a hold of it, but the Roos Q&A with John Bertrand that was shown on ABC's "Big Ideas" program a few months ago was great viewing.

I got locked out of the house so sat in the backyard & watched in on my phone until the cavalry came.

Didn't mind the long wait one bit. Great discussion.

My perception is that at AFL level, James showed he was OK with his inside work but he didn't win the ball outside enough and when he did his disposal was just so so.

4 mids in already, including Cross with whom he would directly compete.

I'd delist James next week to free up a spot on the rookie list.

It would seem that we know what we have with manger

Can't understand why he wasn't given a run as all above state

Would like roos to at least consider and communicate any action

While he seems to have similar characteristics to cross could learn and improve and provide a valuable backup
