I've said it before, but i've never come across a better club than the Demons

So, I finished University last spring and moved to a different state. The address from my 2013 club membership was for my university dormitory. I haven't ordered anything and haven't renewed my membership yet so I hadn't got around to updating it yet. Well last week, I got a call from the dormitory I lived in saying i'd received a package from Australia. I argued with them for 10 minutes trying to get them to forward it to me. But apparently the school is run by idiots and they wanted me to come in person and show ID to get it. So I said i'd try and work out coming down over the weekend to get it. But plans fell through.

I called my old school to try and work something out. Turns out they'd all ready returned it to sender, last week. So I emailed the club and told them the situation, and asked if they could forward it to me and that I would be more than willing to pay the shipping costs. I got a reply today. They said that they wanted to send me a little something for my continued support from the states. (I'm assuming it's stemming from a blog post I wrote a few months ago that eventually got retweeted by the Demons.) Then she said they club will pay the additional shipping costs and will notify me when it ships out after they get it.

This is about the third amazing experience i've had with the staff of the club. I've heard about five stories from other people who have all had great experiences with the Demons front office. I know we've been [censored] on the field for the past few years, but the way they have treated me, has earned them a life long member.

Great to have you mate, you deserve it for the dedication from so far away! Hope you can get out here for a game one day soon.

They are a great club when it comes to member diplomacy. I will always appreciate their efforts when they arranged a signed and personalised photo of Mitch Clark for my son's birthday and on another occasion had Nathan Jones phone him personally to thank him for being a member. Love the fact they go that extra mile.

Thanks. i'm pretty excited to get whatever it is. Damn stupid university sending it back to Australia. Guess that's what I get for going to a cheaper school. Now i'll probably have to wait a month before it finally gets to me! I don't even know what it is, i'm hoping for a scarf or something like that though. I'll be sure to let you all know what it is when it gets here.

Thats amazing. I was blown away when I made my first post on here last summer about how they sent me an autographed team photo. There were a handful of stories about how great the club is to members .My favorite might have been on another website but it sent chills down my spine.

This woman was visiting her sister in Australia. She was from Switzerland. She wanted to go to an AFL game, just to see the spectacle but knew nothing about the game. Her sister couldn't go with her so she ended up just going to the G alone. In between quarters she had gone to get a drink or something and got lost. A tall man in a suit walked up and asked if she needed help. She explained that she needed help finding her seat, and then said how she didn't understand the game or what was going on. The tall man in a suit was Jim Stynes. He invited her to sit with him in his box. Explained the game to her. And then after the game ended he took her down to the club store and bought her some merchandise.

That must be what I'm missing- 10,000 or so klms of ocean between and the MFC, because I've never come across a worse club that repeatedly rips my heart out and stomps on it over and over again. Hopefully Roos can turn it around. It was a great club and it needs to return to it's former glory quickly.

Haha oh on the field they're awful and they've ripped my heart out many times. But the experiences i've had with the front office and how nice and accommodating they've been to me have made me a fan forever. No matter what happens.

Great to hear mate.

Get to NY, is like a much bigger Melbourne. I love NY.

Hope you get out to a game soon!

I thought Melbourne was a big place until I visited NY earlier this year - the size of it is breathtaking.

Love Brooklyn, one of the best places I've ever been.

Yeah, I thought the same... funny thing is, and I think this has been officially recognised, NYC has become a much friendlier place since the 9/11 event. I still remember the first time I went there in the late 90's, it was a very unfriendly city where people tended to avoid eye to eye contact... when I was there last year, it was one of the friendliest cities I have been in. The highlight of the trip for my son though was the light rail trip from Long Beach to downtown in L.A... seemed like every nut job in L.A was jumping into our carriage and he loved every minute of it.

My kids got free jerseys in the mail this year. And anyone who thinks that is a waste of money by the club should see the look on kid's faces when they receive it, or whenever they wear it. It is things like this that make people supporters for life (not that my kids would have had any choice).

A few years back I was working in the Black Saturday affected area trying to help the victims of Australia's worst bushfire - the people who survived that horrific day. The stories I heard in that job I will never forget. In the role I was able to assist many with Govenment grants, food, clothing, counselling, support etc. Often I would talk football to the families as a way to take their thoughts from the pain, loss, mental anguish and devestation they endured.

I contacted 2 AFL clubs to ask what they could do to help a couple of families that were avid supporters of their clubs. One was Melbourne who contacted the family and invited them to the MCG VIP area to watch the Dees defeat Port Adelaide. They provided the whole family with food, drink, team supporter scarves and other material as well as introducing them to players during and after the game. It was an experience that had a profound positive affect on them.

The other club never responded to my emails or calls. I won't name them but I am glad we have beaten them in 6 Grand Finals!

Also, players and officials from the MFC visited the area and assisted the local football teams get back on their feet with administrative support. Karma will prevail - we will taste the ultimate success on the field before this decade ends (eg before 2020)

Weather is perfect for kicking the Sherrin, Sheeps Meadow in Central Park, is the place to be, I'm usually playing ultimate with a bunch of under employed actors during lunch 12-2pm but can usually coax one or two into a bit of kick to kick.

Likewise the club sends my stuff through to NY, they had a bit of drama with some merchandise this year but the new manager was onto it and sent my stuff on post haste once he was aware of the delay. I was most satisfied, and love training in my MFC kit, sadly most yanks still get it confused with rugby...

I'm sorry. If it makes you feel any better my team (Dodgers) lost tonight. I hope the A's come back. I don't really like the Tigers. Mostly because of an ex-coworker was a huge Tigers fan and he was also a gigantic [censored].

If your even in town I'd happily take you into the MCC (at the MCG) to watch a game.

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full

    MEANWHILE by Whispering Jack

… meanwhile, at about the same time that Narrm was putting its feet on the accelerator to obliterate the long-suffering Euro-Yroke combination, I heard someone mention in passing that Kuwarna was leading Waalitj Marawar by a whopping 46 to 1 halfway through the second quarter of their game over in Adelaide. “What is football coming to?” I asked myself.  In front of my eyes, the Demons were smashing it through the midfield, forcing turnovers and getting the footy to their forwards who w
