Scott Watters just hinted that the right sort of offer would see the Saints looking at moving on Dal and a few others.

What are people's thoughts of getting in his ear as a potential free agent?

I'd almost be prepared to offer up a second round pick for him. He's had a good year averaging 24.8 touches and doesn't look like slowing down too much yet. We'll have to pay overs to get players at this time anyway and I think he'd probably be worth it.

If we pick up him and Cross, I'd hope they leave it at that with older players and focus on youngsters/mid range recruits. We don't want to become too old and slow rather than young and slow.

Our second rounder will be early 20's. No way.

Says he's a RFA anyway

Doesn't matter a whole heap. Him leaving will be st kilda getting the best deal. If he goes it will be for the good of the saints, if that makes sense. As such, I think if we offer at kilda something higher than the compensation they'd otherwise receive, that would be enough for st kilda.

Troy Davis and pick 38 if we choose to trade something?

they are keen on a key defender, Davis would be delisted anyway, and 38 is prob similar to the compo they would get anyway?

The fact that Davis played two underwhelming games (albeit as a forward) in his whole career for us and is probably going to get delisted means that he has basically no value at all on the trade table.

Your judgment on the value of players (particularly Melbourne players) is downright disturbing. I'm yet to see you suggest a realistic trade.

The Watts for pick 11 suggestion was pretty realistic ;)

Seems to have gone a bit quiet on the Dal front. Strongly tipped that he will be moved on with the Saints looking to turn their focus to the youth.

North considered the frontrunner, but any interest or case put forward to get him? Short term solution to midfield woes but could have a long term impact in terms of what he leaves behind, beyond that of Byrnes or Rodan. He would be a consistent best 22 contributor. Still highly respected.

The question is also what the Saints would accept for him. Second rounder + ?

And more available since he has been delisted and we don't have to trade.

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full

    MEANWHILE by Whispering Jack

… meanwhile, at about the same time that Narrm was putting its feet on the accelerator to obliterate the long-suffering Euro-Yroke combination, I heard someone mention in passing that Kuwarna was leading Waalitj Marawar by a whopping 46 to 1 halfway through the second quarter of their game over in Adelaide. “What is football coming to?” I asked myself.  In front of my eyes, the Demons were smashing it through the midfield, forcing turnovers and getting the footy to their forwards who w

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w
