I love how they throw in the "likely easy-beat St Kilda" slap. Wonder what they would have said about us in there ;)

Jon Ralph. So unnecessary and so disrespectful. ( not too mention that the season hasnt started and who knows what will happen - StKilda could do a Port Adelaide).

Maybe from now on we should refer to him by his full title - Likely never had an original thought in his life Journo, Jon Ralph.

He still didnt put the lives of 40 odd teenagers/young men at risk by overseeing a program where they were injected with unknown unsafe substances

If they were unknown how can you know they were unsafe?

Because some were unsafe (fact) and some were unknown and still are no doubt

But that is not what you said.

"they were injected with unknown unsafe substances"

No maybes there that I can see.

There is lots on suggestions as to what they were but I have seen nothing that proves that anyone knows for sure what they were given.

HH is spot on. OldDee you are nitpicking. I challenge you to be injected with an unknown substance. Unknown substances are precisely that - it could be the elixir of life or it could be anything.

Or it could be harmless.

If you don't know you don't know

IMO it is that simple.

Now that is not to say that everything is ok and that it was not a terrible situation that came into play at Essendon.

I like most people think Hird should go because he allowed a situation to develop where he did not know what was happening.

But you cannot say they were definitely given harmful substances.

Very big chance they were but there is no definite proof that I have seen so far.

I agree Sue. The very uncertainty of what was injected was disgraceful. And the players will live with uncertainty of it for the rest of their lives. What a sell out of young lives.

Or it could be harmless.

If you don't know you don't know

IMO it is that simple.

If it's that simple then how come you don't fathom that is the problem. They don't know and will never know what they had been given.

I don't think anyone is saying emphatically that what was taken was definitely dangerous.

The issue at hand is connecting the illegal substances that were acquired to individual players who were part of the program.

This is starting to sound like one of George W Bush's (many) whacko colleagues. Can't remember which, maybe Rumsfold or Cheney, rambled on about "known unknowns, and unknown unknowns".

Now regardless of whether what James' young charges were given by injection was really known, but would be best (from James' viewpoint) to be regarded as unknown, or whether it was really an unknown unknown it was incredibly irresponsible and totally failed any duty of care encumbent on the coach, the match committee / football department and ultimately the boards and CEO.

Cannot disagree with your second para mono.

I have said Hird and company are at fault and should not be at the bombers.

Actually Hird is nearly the only left which is a discrace.

However I still say how can you categorically say you were inject with a dangerous substance if you don't what is was?

And i don't want to nit pick with you, but if you don't know what you are being injected with, it IS dangerous (or at very least, potentially so).

Think I will leave it here mono.

We all believe that they probably got something illegal

Proving it seems to be a fair bit harder as the only person who knows is not talking

There are no positive tests so we end up in the current position.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
