Bombers scandal: charged, <redacted> and <infracted>

Mark Thompson on Footy Classified seems to be talking his way out of the coaching job next year.

More riveting than Q&A

Bomba was ON EDGE.

Seriously erratic. I wouldn't trust his frame of mind.

Has proven in the past he is as much a pathological liar as Hird.

In other news, if results go Brisbane's way, Angus Johnson will have sacked the coach that got them into the finals!

Which is why he did it. They'll also be bundled out in the first week and have developed no key forwards or made any head way into finals in 5 years. Voss is ok but when was the last time besides the freak come from behind against Geelong they actually had a decent upset win. Why is a midfield of Leuenberger, Rich, Redden, Rockliff, Hanley, Zorko not producing better results especially when they have a very solid backline with Adcock, Merrett, Patfull etc.

And one of the biggest ones is what he's going to do when Brown is gone. Stef Martin and Lisle to carry the future or moving their full back to full forward?

Can someone tell me...

Since the bombers insisted on the charges being removed so that they were only technically being charged for bringing the game into disrepute... If more evidence comes to light, can the AFL then later on charge the club and individuals with administering their players PEDs, since they weren't charged with that in the end?

Maybe. But I'd hope that Essendon would then step up and show some leadership and ownership and remove Hird and the others who got them in this mess.

And in a lot of ways I think the bigger issue is that they gave their players unlicensed and untested drugs. Even worse they can't even tell you who got what and when. If they took everyone out the back for some everyday growth hormone you'd at least know who got what and the effects of it.

I think they could easily tell you who got what and when, but only if they wanted to...

Getting rid of the guilty parties seems to be a cure all, in many ways.

No mention of charges for Dank, Robson, Robinson, Hamilton or Evans, since none are still around.

Hopefully this works in our favour for any issues with Dan Bates at MFC.

The denial of essendon supporters is unbelievable. So misguided, hero worship in overdrive. James Hird costs the club 2 million dollars, a spot in the finals, and draft picks for 2 years, and instead of showing him the door, they extend his contract!

This is what happens when a club and its people and in this case Hird and his relentless pursuit to do anything to make him and his club succeed. Hird was a tough and gifted footballer but that does not entitle him to glory every year of his life.

In his blind pursuit of coaching glory he put his players at high risk, not good enough Hird and its not good enough to think Essendon has a god given right to do what it likes to win premierships.

12 months is pretty weak in the circumstances but he will forever be linked to this mess because of his greed at all costs for success.

12 months is a joke and now the AFL is coming for the MFC, the worst Club in the league. Will 2013 never end!

I don't think the MFC have much to worry about, thankfully Stevie Dank has shut up shop.

Essendon have got off unscathed - after running the most systematic drug regime ever seen in Oz sport.

Pretty sure MFC is as safe as houses, a non issue, the AFL will not ruin the MFC - it would've already shut us down if it wanted.

Why 9th and not last and who is paying the legal fees. Has the AFL sold it's soul to get this result. Hang on the AFL does not have a soul.

Because the AFL does not want to upset the Messendon Fans.

We all will have to pay the legal fees.

No because the AFL has no soul, its just a money making machine.

Correct they have no soul and now they are coming for the MFC to finally finish the Club off for once and for all.

Anyone know of a good sport I can watch and enjoy? Dam it think I just go back to watching the WAFL.

The AFL loves Messendon and does not care about the MFC.

I hope you are right but I have a bad feeling.

Based on the past dealings with the AFL the MFC will be found not guilty but get a 500k plus fine.

Anyone got a few spare $$$ to help pay the fine?

Yes.

The ASADA Report that precipitated the governance charges was interim only. It hasn't produced a report on allegations of prohibited substances being administered to the Essendon players as a result of that club's supplements programme and, despite having been given the power to require Dank to give evidence, hasn't interviewed him yet.

Little seemed very confident there will be no ASADA problem. This would suggest he may already know the outcome of the full report/findings from ASADA or that he is potentially already in receipt of key information here from someone in the know. I wonder if tonight's little AFL "negotiated" outcome played a role.

Didn't the Bongers also state that they were unsure as to exactly what was given to the players and to whom? If so then how can Little be so sure that it will have have no issues with ASADA from here?

well the result is

A/ IF dank presents evidence

no bombers in league for 2 years and financials ruined for league and fellow clubs

Essendon sued by players horrible for everybody on all fronts

B/ IF afl pays dank 2 million, his evidenxe burned forever and all problems GONE

They are not being relegated to last because the AFL does not want the Bummers to win any awards at all and that includes the "wooden spoon" Just saying.. :)

also the players records will read

games162

wins 95

losses 67

it also doesn't corrupt the draft

if you look at ladder it still reads wins scored

It pushes their position in the third and subsequent rounds of the 2013 draft back 8 places and doesnt allow all the smart arses who put money on EFC finishing last, collecting on technicality.

Anyone betting on Essendon finishing last would not have been smart enough to work your theory out..

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
