Career = 44 Games 17 Gls 25 Bhs

2013 = 8 Games 4 Gls 7 Bhs

Best season 2012 : 272 Disposals 8 Gls 15 Bhs

Pros : Has good pace can use the ball well at times, Reads the play well enough and impacts the scorboard but also can be inaccurate.

Cons: With only one reasonable year of 5 so far, is amongst a number of players that have not managed to make a position their own

Outcome:

Bail is another with a stop start career. He has good pace and can get the footy. He would more than likely benefit from having a few more A graders around him. Injuries at various times have limited his progression. May benefit from playing under an experienced coach. Head injuries are a major concern. Next year he will need to make the most of his chances. Another at the crossroads.

Shannon Brynes: Age 29 Ht 175 77 Kgs

Debuted 2004 (Geelong) : Contracted end of 2014

Career = 123 Games 111 Gls 88 Bhs

2013 = 15 Games 11 Gls 5 Bhs

Best season 2009 (Geelong) : 408 Disposals 32 Gls 11 Bhs

Pros; Knows what it takes to get to the 'Everest' Handy as a small forward and knows where the goals are.

Cons: Could be seen as taking a place better given to a younger player. But who?

Outcome:

Recruited to be a leader and add guidance , experience to a young list and be seen as a role model. He has added

great value off field. But one of Neelds ideas that is seen as a short term gain. In his 1st year in his new club with a struggling team, hasnt set the world on fire. But who would, 1st year and had to settle in and get to know everyone etc. On borrowed time.

Sam Blease:

Age 22 Ht 184 80 Kgs

Debuted 2011: Contracted end of 2014

Career = 30 Games 24 Gls 19 Bhs

2013 = 9 Games 5 Gls 4 Bhs

Best season 2012: 201 Disposals 24 Gls 19 Bhs

Pros: Processes rare pace and can hit the scoreboard. Willing to take the game on and is still young enough to develop his game and take it to another level.

Cons: Doesnt get enough of his own ball or does he have a tank to make the most of his talents. Also needs to improve his awareness of his team mates around him. Can be seen to be selfish and not taking a better option.

Outcome:

Didnt have the best start to his career, (with a broken leg). Worth hanging onto but really needs to work harder.

Another that would benefit with a few A graders around him. But he doesnt have that luxury atm. He has the runs on the board to prove when up forward, he can hurt the opposition on the scoreboard. He should become a good player for us as long as he has the desire to train hard. Expected more from him this year,and has disappointed. Trade bait perhaps?.

Troy Davis:

Debuted 2013 : Contracted end of 2013

Career = 1 Games Gls Bhs

2013 = 1 Games Gls Bhs

Best season: N/a

Pros: Young defender much the same as a Garland type (when he played his 1st game)? But even though his form at Casey has warranted a place in the big league has failed to get a gig. At times shows a bit to warrant selection. Does a good shutdown role on key forwards in the VFL.

Cons: May get found out with a lack of space, and could be seen as another Dunn type of player. Disposal could hurt him just as much as it hurts the team.

Outcome:

Borderline, unproven. Tries hard and isnt afraid to take the game on. He has been thrown around lately and played in the forward line in the VFL. Hasnt set the world on fire, just a good honest player. We need more run out of the backline and a link player,not sure if he has enough weapons in his game. If he grabs his chances he might do enough to bunt Dunn out.

At this stage hasn't done enough to suggest he is nothing more than a depth player. Touch and go if he remains on the list.

Aaron Davey:

Age 30 Ht 177 75 Kgs

Debuted 2004: Contracted end of 2013

Career = 174 Games 173 Gls 126 Bhs

2013 = 16 Games 14 Gls 9 Bhs

Best season 2009 : 504 Disposals 9 Gls 8 Bhs

Pros: Disposal by foot. Dangerous around goals and still has the footy smarts. One of few experienced players needed to guide the younger players.

Cons: Age is not on his side, Short burst player, doesnt have the weapon he once had to chase down opponents he once had,

Outcome:

No doubt his best years are behind him. Still processes a lethal left foot, but his lack of tank sees him not doing the gut running required. His best position now late into his career is a crumbing small forward. A player, the opposition still need to guard closely and he still is damaging when the chance comes his way. Depends on the new coach, if he sees Davey as part of his plans. He really struggled with last years pre-season. Davey himself may decide its time to put the 'flash' out to pasture.

Lynden Dunn:

Age 26 Ht 192 96 Kgs

Debuted 2006: Contracted end of 2013

Career = 113 Games 90 Gls 63 Bhs

2013 = 14 Games 3 Gls 1 Bhs

Best season 2010 : 265 Disposals 26 Gls 22 Bhs

Pros: Big bodied player that was originally recruited as a forward. The last few years has been played down back and been able to shut down his opponent. Has a good long kick, and can get into the head of opponents. When given a chance can go forward and kick goals.

Cons: Not blessed with pace. Doesnt hit packs hard enough. Can be all over the shop with his disposal by foot. Suffers from brain fades. In a good side would struggle to get a game. Limited ability and limited time left to be worthwhile in the future.

Outcome;

Filling a role and most times doing enough to hold his spot in the team. He doesnt give me any great hope he much more to offer. I cant see any worth in a trade. perhaps a Pick at best but then do we take a chance, when we might end up no better off?

The new coach may decide his future for him.

That covers the A - D names on the senior list. No doubt there will be varying views of opinions. But the point is the above list will be under the pump to remain. The new coach will have the final say. Feel free to discuss the above players. Same may be trade bait, some retained, some delisted.

PS: I know Davis will play his 1st game this weekend, but decided to go with my views anyway.

Very ordinary list of players there - all will be fighting to keep their place on the list next year (except maybe Blease).

Say what you say about Dunn but he's a very good one on one player and can play anywhere. It's just his decision making that's a problem.

Dunn is the best 1-1 defender in the competition at the moment according to the AFL's stats people. I'd say he's doing ok this year.

From my memory Dunn is contracted for 2014.

I honestly think he is worth keeping.

Davey is at the end will be gone in four weeks.

Davis has four weeks to prove he is worth another contract, my view is he is not AFL standard but we we will know shortly.

The others will not be on the list in 2015 they simply are not good enough at AFL level.

he doesn't escape critisism but going forward he is worth persevering with. Get him around a sharp midfield and he will improve.

Blease far too limited in his tricks. Serious contender for the chop. Need to be unemotional about ths. Far too many mediocre and/or very ordinary on our list.

Don't believe Blease is a team player so he won't help the side going forward. It's a team sport problem with MFC to many players play as individuals.
