Let's hope.

He can be involved for all I care.

But I want one ticket to be ratified in October and for it to be AFL endorsed.

I can't see a better way out of our current mire than a path with AFL support.

To be fair he is entitled to stand.

His statements to date for mine have been completely uninspiring. At this stage I will be shopping for the AFL approved merchandise. How can you bring out a plan for the football club that fails to mention the word football.

The Stockdale ticket is the final wail of a dying beast. These establishment types who can only see the football club as a money making venture have taken us to our current morass and they see their grip on the football club slipping. Therefore they then throw out this bs board ticket to suck in people to get what they feel is their birthright.

As I have said before (I'm starting to sound like Deeluded and his ranting about the MCG and the social club!), we have picked the same kind of blokes over and over again and we get nowhere (Jim and Joe aside). Stockdale is the epitome of the crusty, conservative rich white men who have danced on the grave of our club for the benefit of their own ego. They have lost the moral authority to run our club. When Stockdale says the 'members' have lost their right to have a say in how the club is run what he is really saying is 'But Mummy told me the football club was MINE!' (said in my best Prince George voice from Blackadder).

Secondly, Stockdale mentioned a little bit about us not having won a flag in 50 years but far as I can tell, he only sees our future success as being driven by what marketing strategy or membership campaign we may wish to undertake. I want someone like PJ who has put time lines on our onfield performance (i.e. we will be up and about in 1-2 years as he said during 'On the Couch') .

And finally, isn't ironic who he has chosen for the board? Two blokes from companies who directly profited during his time in government in Victoria (TabCorp and Metro) and another from a sector that is a natural ally of the Liberal party (corporate lawyers).

All i really want out of this is to see ( or rather hear ) what the visions and methods are of those who seek to run this place.

If nothing else Stockdales antics might flush out some utterings from the supposed heir apparent Bartlett. I have no real problem with him GB ( as I do with the other, AS ) but It should still be beholding upon these people to outline the what, and how, of their way forward.

im just a little over being a mushroom.

The members and supporters did have a big say recently and they still do though maybe not through official protocols. MacLardy said so himself as one of the reasons Schwab left was because he lost the supporters. A vote was not necessary. Given our perilous financial state Stockdale has also failed to outline where his money shot is going to come from.

Alan Stockdale's programme suggests he wants to "unite the club". I agree that this is of utmost importance but if he wants to convince me that he's our man then he'll need to explain how he plans to do this given that in his previous involvement with the club, he was instrumental in the overthrow of Joe Gutnick which led to a long period of instability and disunity that resulted in the installation of the Szondy regime and we know what happened under him.

It also worries me that his platform talks of working with the CEO despite mention in this morning's Herald Sun Former state treasurer Alan Stockdale has revealed his plan to save Melbourne of "at least one combative meeting between the pair in recent weeks."

Although, I would prefer it if my club was independent of the AFL, I don't think we're in a position to risk its assistance package or potential priority pick or other forms of draft assistance by defying the AFL.

Forgive me but ATM, I'm a sceptic about Stockers. I need a lot of convincing.

He can't have done that, because the wording of the poll is not heavily loaded to skew the results in Rangey's favour.

wasnt far from it ^_^

I really like the AFL at the moment.

They are doing a terrific job with the competition.

I really hope we get our act together soon with all the money they want to give us.

They really are a wonderful bunch of guys.

Does anyone still think we should have stood up to the afl re tanking?

Watching James Hird drag himself through the mud makes me think McLardy did the smart thing by saying "oK ,we did tank a little bit".

Essendon will get torn a new ring and we will be fluffed up with manpower and money.

This is interesting Biff. How much worse is doing drugs compared to "tanking". Surely there is much more "disrepute" in syringes? Dumbetriou didn't want any more [censored] on his watch. Well he has it and the golden boy is involved. I get a fat everytime i think about the possible consequences Essendrug will cop.

Essendon should now be renamed ST JAMES INFIRMARY after the sad classic blues song. Hird will have six substance shooters as his pall bearers.

I find it funny that Stockdale's main issue is governance when his mob tipped out elected council officials and put in administrators. Good or bad thing I'm not going to argue but the government at the time thought the councils where unable to run themselves. Same now. The AFL believes, with good reason that the MFC hasn't been able to run itself properly. The record would show they are correct, I'm not sure many would disagree.

Forget it Alan, the people don't seem to be with you on this one.

.... & they he? threw out the popularly elected State Liberal Leader (Ted Baillieu) without referring back to the Victorian voters...

& they've given us the pleasure of leaders of the likes of napthine, doyle, napthine again??? whattha

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt
