1 vote to me for showing up.

Everyone else go to hell.

I'll take hell coz it would have been warmer than sitting watching that sh/t effort it was like a training drill at inter club with the u/18s

6. Dunn - Didn't lose a contest and was our best field kick all day.

5. Frawley - Smashed Petrie most of the day.

4. McDonald - Was playing most of the game loose in defence, but he did it well and provided a lot of rebound run. Also kicked surprisingly well.

3. Sylvia - Fought hard and gave us some good attack.

2. N. Jones - The usual.

1. Toumpas - Was elusive and creative. Also took a ripper of a mark.

Gawn may be hard done by, but he was smashed by Goldstein in every department. As good as he was, he was given a lesson by a very good ruck today.

6. Gawn (by a mile, only player who tried consistently and had a positive impact all game, had our most contested possessions too)

5. Frawley (did well on Petrie for 3 quarters)

4. N.Jones (Promising first half but still could've had a much better impact)

3. McDonald (A lot of the ball and surprisingly didn't cough it up as well as playing well on his man)

2. M.Jones (Tried)

1. Sylvia (Was pretty good at stoppages but looked defeated in the final term)

Dunn and Toumpas are not voteworthy. Screwed up our defence all day with their decision making and didn't learn from their mistakes

True, based on the hit outs and Goldstein's influence in the second half, you'd think so, but I thought Gawn showed heart all day, got into the right positions to win the ball and flew well at contests

I agree with all of that, hence the mention that he may be hard done by. I just think he was well and truly beaten by a better opponent today.

2 - Fitzpatrick ( I like the name ) - sums up season 2013 haha

6.Dunn - can't believe on another thread people are calling for his head, beat Thomas hands down

5.Frawley- is almost back to AA form, we need to get things right in the FD as we can't afford to lose him

4.Sylvia - had a dip and our best mid for mine

3.M.Jones - had a crack and got his hands to it

2.TMac- got a lot of it as did most of our defenders and provided some rebound

1.Gawn - four quarter effort and despite being beaten by Goldstein, big Maxy is improving every week

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourne’s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last year’s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although it’s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sunday’s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to fool’s gold.
