That he did jack. He trained with us along with Tom hislop leading into the 2010 rookie draft. That season we selected Evans, nicho and Robert Campbell! Thorp was always a very prodigious talent. However he was ultimately "uncoachable" with a very strong attitude problem.

Good luck to him for settling down and finally having a extended run playing. He suffered some shocking injuries!

What's the standard like down there? Maybe worth a rookie spot as a back up tall.

He can certainly play. But he won't be there for a rookie selection. IMO the doggies will take him with their round 2 or 3 selection.

Tall midfield option???

Lucky Neelds gone, he would fit in perfect with his recycled spud programme .

It's the same league we plucked Howe from. The standard is a long way off the VFL/SANFL/WAFL though. I think if Thorp wants credibility he'll need to consider a move, like the likes of Ian Callinan have done.

He did dd36.

But we chose not to pick him up. I think he went to the tigers?

The year thorp trained with us we also had Tom Rockcliff and Kane tenace plus couple of rookies. Tom hislop never trained with us.

I stand corrected. You are right dd36. I believe that we were one of the several clubs enquiring about putting him on the permission to train list but he went to Richmond. Luckily!!!

Was drafted by Hawthorn in 2006 pick 6 as a forward but only played 2 games, has been coach/player for Tas statewide league team South Launceston and put together a great year alongside Bart McCullough (ex Brisbane Lions) to win the flag. Could be worth a look.

Talls are low priority but good ones if you get them cheap you can always on trade them or use them as quality depth. Rookie draft or PSD if we get him over to train with us again.

Both body and mind seem much better than when we first looked at him, but having him over for a preseason again would be the best move.

He is not a midfielder.

Pass.

I used to play with Thorpy in tassie before he was first drafted. Yes his attitude was shocking but by all reports he has turned his life around settled down with a fiance aswell. FWIW he has always had a good tank and can run all day. He could be used as a mid/hff option as he has good hands is a good kick and as mentioned earlier has a good tank for a big man. Worth a look

Thorpe is an interesting case. Was a highly rated teen who lacked the application and required attitude at the top level, but has reportedly sorted out his maturity issues by spending some time back is Tassie.

We lost Sylvia who could be played forward, and by all reports Jack Watts will be used as a midfielder this season. I think Fitzy will be used in the ruck given Jamar and Spencers limitations around the ground, meaning we have Howe, Hogan, Dawes and Clake down forward. Is there room for Thorpe as a depth player?

I think the Dees will blow their dough on midfield stocks on the trade table and then at the draft table. However if Thorpe is available as a rookie then I think he would be a great candidate to put in the rookie list.

Fortunately we picked up Liam Jurrah instead. Dodged a bullet there...

I was interested in Thorp when we were crying out for a KPF back before we recruited Clark.

Since then we have signed Dawes, Fitzpatrick has evolved and Hogan should slot straight into round 1.

Zero interest in Thorp for 2014.

A rookie spot for Thorp. Has a lot more natural talent compared to Fitzpatrick and Sellar. Why not give him a try for a year? Heck...He couldn't be as bad as Sellar, Rodan,Byrnes and Cook.

If he's still there at Pick 20 in the rookie draft then yes. He'll likely be gone by then though.

I have changed my tone with him. Rookie pick for back up to Dawes or Clarke.

Has changed his attitude and coaching would have changed his mindset.

Yes he is worth a rookie pick make him earn his spot. But he definitely has the tools to play AFL level.

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
