Melbourne has moved on from Roos

Recommended Posts

Roos tweaked an already happening club, albeitly got them the next level up but some might say all thehard was was already done ( by Rocket ) .

This is absolute crap. He walked into a team that had just had 6 key players retire including Paul Kelly, Andrew Dunkley, Troy Luff, etc etc. They had at best, a very workman like midfield against arguably the greatest of all time at WC and manufactured a Premiership.

I would imagine the Essendon job may also be available next season too. From what i remember he isnt even on a massive contract at Freo, only that it was a long term 4 year deal. The figure 650-700k a season seem to ring a bell.

All this is obviously hypothetical. The rumour itself though re him quitting the Dockers due to personal reasons came from Freo people so you just never know!

Very surprised more haven't raised this prospect before.

If you were Roos and you had the opportunity to walk into Essendon with where they are at or walk into Dees which would you take. You wouldn't know the answer to that until you knew the outcome of the investigation. If half the list gets banned for 6mths you might not take it but on the other hand the Club is very strong, stable, heaps of resources a very good list on the verge and low expectations for next year if they get hit with sanctions.

I would say he's very comfortable where he's at now unless something very enticing comes up. MFC wouldn't be enticing right now. No Board, No Footy Dept Head, No List Manager, No midfield, Questionable financial viability. I'd say he and probably the others being discussed would sit back and wait before they even consider it. See if there is going to be a decent Board appointed who have enough knowledge to help the Coach and team become successful. See who PJ appoints as Footy Dept Head and List Manager. They could appoint people he or the others can 't work with for some reason. Who knows. But you'd think they would all sit back and see who gets appointed to all those roles before making any decision.

Interesting Corey McKernon on Open Mike said last night he should have left Carlton as soon as he found out that Pagan was appointed as coach. This might well apply to some of the appointments being made and some of the coaching prospects. Who knows.

As for Williams. A complete nut job as far as I'm concerned. Neeld has shown that the role of a development coach is very different to a Head Coach. His first actions on winning a Premiership were to jump up and make a derogatory gesture directed at the team's main sponsor. He decided to announce Dean Bailey as MFC's next coach instead of allowing the MFC to do it. Bizarre, unprofessional, irrational behaviour. Says it all as far as I'm concerned. No Williams for me.

The West Coast position may become a little clearer over the next week.

http://www.perthnow.com.au/sport/afl/west-coast-coach-john-worsfold-is-expected-to-re-sign-with-the-club/story-fniv6fhh-1226683958367

I'm still holding out hope for Roos..............any one else is a B plan in my book.

Roos to Essendon rumours are flat out fantasy.

This doesn't make sense, unless Bomber Thompson will be leaving Essendon? How do people expect Essendon to be able to pay Thompson and Roos, as well as provide an environment where they could work together? Have they started selling drugs too?

Worsfold certainly needs to earn a decent income, with divorce proceedings ahead and a fairly heavy financial hit with a failed business venture. He will always be sort after in WA and as a I said last week the decision as to who coaches Meth Coast next year rests solely with Woosha!

Where from Sydney, where he lives, Adelaide where your avatar says you live or another port of departure, although I seriously doubt your post, Roos is no idiot so lets fly into Perth in full view of all and sundry!

Meth Coast play the Dogs in Melbourne this week and that is where any meeting would have happened

Just read the article regarding Worsfold was written by Kim Hagdorn.................based on that, and your sighting, he must be heading over to seal the deal!

No new news on potential future MFC coaches....

Things seem to be staying inhouse a bit more with Jackson at the helm.

As they should!

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well …

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
