Because he would change the entire culture, not just be a coach, and also we would have a better chance of luring good players.

But how do we know he would be the best of those coaches in terms of changing culture? yeah sydney have a great culture, but they also had Lyon and longmire there who would have all had a serious influence in that, not at all saying Roos is overrated, but i think Choco would get people excited, and get us up and firing again, eade has a fantastic track record with getting the most out of players,

He will bring members and sponsors along with payers wanting to come and players wanting to stay at the dees

Funny thing is I was told by my contact that Roos was very much still a possibility.

I would say that your contact must be Paul Roos himself as he would be the only person who would know what he is doing re the MFC job and even then judging from his attitude on camera even HE is not sure... Let's move on and continue our search for a genuine, more interested candidate whom will bring passion to the Club. I don't see anything in Roos demeanor to convince me he will put his total heart into the MFC and although I may be howled down for this, (and won't care if I am) I believe Roos was presented with a ready made list when Eade moved on.. Who says he would lift us out of our current predicament ?? Although I do not doubt he will be moving on with a better list than we currently have..Choco for me would be better for us ... He is passionate, seemingly a very committed person and definitely wears his heart on his sleeve AND very importantly, is knowledgeable on today's game. I see him as a better proposition for our club.

I'm just interested on thoughts, but why would Paul Roos be a better get than say a Choco or an Eade who we would have to pay half as much money?

Half as much money? Really??

Have you been putting too much faith in people like Jon Ralph?

Where did you get this info?

Cos it's wrong.

Heard a rumour that Lyon will be stepping down due to his wife wanting to move back to Melb and Roos to takeover Freo.

"IF" it is true, Lyon might be available.

To much sweet puff on the weekend, you been partying at Bubble all Saturday night.

The simple fact is that whoever the coach is be it Roos, Eade, Craig or Williams the playing list is crap.

Whoever is the coach is going to need three years to just get a list capable of rising above 9th.

In 2014 we are still going to be in the bottom four.

There are no miracles ahead just slow hard work for the next few years just to get respectable.

Old Dee, I was in the same boat as this, but I'm starting to think our best 25 players aren't that bad. If we can find a midfielder through trade and add a couple more through the draft we can be competitive next year and with a bit of confidence who knows. We won't make the 8 but we will be 9-12 on the ladder.

I still believe we are in to Paul Roos and he is strongly considering, I think both parties just won't to keep the media quiet for the time being.

You have way more confidence in the playing group than me dr.d

My list stop at about 12 with another 8 or 9 that are depth players at best.

The rest are VFL players.

I think Roos has indicated the long haul to 'old dee', even though he sees some potential.

I think the cricket team is a good indication of what you are saying. Get 'Boof', but he can't bat for us.

Granted I have allowed for some positive development of a few players but I believe that the below team can be competitive in 2014

Clisby Frawley Garland

Terlich McDonald Grimes

Trengove Sylvia Blease

Watts Clark Howe

Davey Dawes Hogan

Gawn Jones Viney

Fitzpatrick/Jamar, Kent, Toumpas, Byrnes

Davey on his last legs, and very much doubt Clisby is a permanent fixture in the 22.

I think to be in real contention we need to have players good enough to push out some of the remainder.

Clisby, I think you are wrong there. He's shown more than enough in his first few games to cement a spot for the rest of the season and shows real promise. The fact that we really struggle for smaller defenders and pace/delivery out of the back half should also see him hold his spot.

Whether or not he continues to develop is to be seen.

Dr here is how I see our list.

AFL standard players with really only 5-6 that I see as A grade

Jones, Watts, Dawes, Frawley, Trengove, Garland, T. Mcdonald, Grimes, Gawn, Howe, Spencer and Fitzpatrick.

Sylvia Will probably move on.

Kids Who need a couple of years development.

Toumpas, Viney, Tynan, Taggert and Barry

Question marks Evans, Kent and Terlick.

VFL players with a few worth retaining as depth players

M Jones, Byrnes McKenzie, Dunn, Blease, Strauss. Pedersen, Nicholson,Sellar, Tapscott, Bail,Jetta, Jamar.

These will be gone in 2014 or should be Roden, Gillies,J McDonald,

Leaves Clark I have doubts he will make it back and Davey, may get one more year there have been a lot worse than him this year.

Any wonder we are second last and will struggle to beat last in a couple of weeks time.

No question in my mind about Terlich, and I'm perplexed you don't have Evans and Kent in the "kids" category.

You are probably right Machiavelli on Kent but this is Evans third year and he is looking very injury prone.

Big question mark for me.

How many do you think?

We have potential A grade players and player that have had A grade years, but as far as consistency goes over at least a couple of seasons right now we have no-one that qualifies as A grade.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
