Frank are you suggesting we play better when Howcroft isn't there? Is he to blame for the fade out?

Next to go and good riddance...I hope the liniment had a good smell at the rugby.

Lots showed up in the MCC after half time. All good. But I was surprised he made such a big deal about leaving the rugby to come.

Staggering that you'd not go and see the MFC play. Equally, that you'd ditch the MFC for a mind-numbling boring sport that involves a bunch of private school boys running into each other and throwing a ball backwards. Ridiculous.

Further, get the F off our board if you're going to prioritise a game of Rugby over your AFL football. You sit on our board for crying out loud. Not for long, one hopes.

Oh and I'm a swinging voter on the bugle. Some days I find it utterly pretentious and potentially harmless to attracting a wider fan base, while others I love it for the arrogance.

Reality is the bugler is where he belongs. If he wants to blow his trumpet when it's obvious we have won (or are going to win), then great. I just objected to him being out front and center before the game. It's like Joffa and the gold jacket.

To be honest if I could have afforded the rugby is have gone too.

It is an international event, one of the highlights in world sport and very rate in occurrence (lions).

Yeah, but I don't think you are on the board of the MFC a club that needs people with serious passion to get it back to the top, not half baked arrogant tossers who pick and choose.

I'm not on the board, correct, and the second half of your sentence has no relevance to the conversation. I have no problem with a director purchasing tickets to an international event such as that Lions v Wallabies match. It's quiet possible he was the With clients etc. We play 22 games per year, I'd be surprised if all directors were at every game. Not only for us, for all clubs.

If he made a fuss about his arrival that's a different story and a different conversation. My comment was that attending the event isn't a problem, even for a director.

I think it is, particularly where we are sitting at the moment. It's all hands on deck or ....off. So lets just agree to differ on this.

I've been vehemently against the bugler ever since it started. At the end of the game is better than before it, but it's still unnecessary, pretentious, silly and embarrassing. It also reminds me of the Schwab era, and for that reason alone it should probably just be done away with.

Channel 10 has the broadcast rights for the rugby, Russel is an exec at Channel 10... The detractors; you do the maths...

Jeez we like to whinge. I guess we want guys to have corporate experience on our board, but then..... we don't want them to work in corporate roles? As an FYI, corporate roles are typically not 9-5 Monday to Friday.

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the
