How does Rodney Eade sound as coach sound if he could persuade Ryan Griffin to play for the red and blue and help out our midfield.

Or even less unlikely Choco Williams if he can persuade Dustin Martin?

Lets look deeper then just the coaching skills.

Imagine a Paul Roos what type of players he knows and has a good working relationship with.

No. Let's not. Neeld got us Dawes and Jason Taylor, didn't mean he could coach...

Eade might help us land Daniel Cross as a free agent.

Williams could help us get Adam Kingsley as an assistant coach.

But I think that's about as exciting as it would get for either

If Choco could get us Dustin Martin, I'd personally drag his arse into the club. Good coach + gun midfield combo = winner.

But, will not happen in a million years.

Maybe if we got Leigh Matthews, he could get Simon black to come play for us?

Or woosha could get Daniel Kerr over for us????

Nah sorry I don't mean to take the pizz. I was only thinking a few weeks back how I can't wait for a feel good footy story to come out of our club. Seems everything is player exodus, neeld sacking, poor finances.

Would love to read about Jeremy Howe kicking 5 in a quarter to drag us over st kilda, or jimmy toumpas getting 35possies as well as shutting down dal santo.

Or I could go on believing in the tooth fairy. All seem as believable lately!

As if Martin would want to come to us after overlooking him. Infact he is probably glad now he didn't get picked up. Martin turned down a massive contract from GWS so cant see why he would come to us.

Can I attempt to refocus this thread because it's gone off the rails. We aren't getting a Dustin Martin or Ryan Griffen but the OP has some merit.

When Ross Lyon went to St Kilda Roos gave him a parting gift of a trade of Schneider and Shaun Dempster. 2 role players who were on the fringes at Sydney but who became very useful saints and helped St Kilda make it to consecutive grand finals. When he went to Freo he took Zac Dawson with him and the saints now are devoid of a decent key backman whilst Dawson allows McPharlin and Michael Johnson to play on lesser opponents are take intercept marks and attack. When Clarkson landed the Hawthorn gig he recognised the talent he saw in Brent Guerra and got him over and same goes for Stephen Gilham from Port.

Now Richmond undoubtedly have more stars and a few more advanced kids than us and by adding some recycled types in Chaplin, Knights, Petterd, A. Edwards they are potential taking games away from some hidden gems on their list. We've seen Richmond get success with Houli, Maric and Grigg as cheap buys who now are clear best 22.

Fringe players for the right price (3rd round pick or lower) that could come with a coach:

Eade: Coll:
Brent Macaffer - Only 25 and can play forward or as a tagger and has a clear work rate edge on most of our players. With Bucks pushing a mini rebuild could be a chance to be out of best 22 like Dawes

Ben Sinclair - has been converted from forward to back and is behind Marley Williams, Heath Shaw, Paul Seedsman for a small defenders role when although lack of depth keeps him in the frame

WB: Jason Tutt and Christian Howard are two recruited under Eade who haven't been sighted, not sure how well they are tracking though

Williams: GWS:
Taylor Adams - is the obvious one who hasn't resigned yet and has the hard edge Chocko probably loves

Rich: Astbury and Griffiths are two big key defenders fighting for the same spot behind preferred options in Rance, Chaplin, Bachelor and Grimes

Could Nahas rediscover his best form with a free run for our small forward spot - I doubt it but some might have more faith

Brad Helbig looked good in his debut season but has been rarely sighted since

Is Shane Tuck finally passed his use buy date at the tigers and could he be a good culture and work rate infuence on our midfield ie. a better Rodan.

2024 Player Reviews: #36 Kysaiah Pickett

The Demons’ aggressive small forward who kicks goals and defends the Demons’ ball in the forward arc. When he’s on song, he’s unstoppable but he did blot his copybook with a three week suspension in the final round. 2024 Player Reviews: #1 Steven May

The years are rolling by but May continued to be rock solid in a key defensive position despite some injury concerns. He showed great resilience in coming back from a nasty rib injury and is expected to continue in that role for another couple of seasons. 2024 Player Reviews: #4 Judd McVee

It was another strong season from McVee who spent most of his time mainly at half back but he also looked at home on a few occasions when he was moved into the midfield. There could be more of that in 2025.
