As others have said, there is a long way to go yet, but ... I do wonder whether yesterday's performance against the Swans puts a little more pressure on Roos to do more than just sit and watch. He, of all people, would be wary of the momentum of Craig-for-coach becoming close to unstoppable if we put up another good show this week, and win a few over the rest of the season. For that matter, if we win 3 of our next 4 (not totally implausible  ), then it will become very interesting ...

Almost!

R & B I think you have had too much carrot cake over the weekend.

North NO, did you see them fix up the Tigers and we have not beaten them in years too good for us.

Brisbane a faint Chance if everything falls our way

GWS the way they played against the Dogs we will be lucky to get home on that form.

One from four is my only confidence and I dream of two and a similar showing to yesterday at the Cattery

Im not sure , nor care (in a way ) how many games we win other than a win is a win ( and rare ) Im more interested in the method and style of playing. The endeavour and backbone etc

This is a game of dont blink.I dont really expect anyone too either though the media ought to be growling louder as things go on..

Despite any public denials and supposed apathy towards the position he would have been glued to the box yesterday. (he wouldnt be silly to show a face at a game lol )

To do or dont for Roos is about the interest and challenge . It might just be getting more interesting ( to him if no one else )

Roos is at the least contemplating the idea.

Tahdg Kennelly in Melbourne over the last few days..... Assistant role perhaps?

Pearce Hanley holding out on contract talks with Brisbane as the above are keen on a trade to Melbourne if the pieces fall into place. Although Brisbane are applying pressure to re-sign soon.

Fanciful? Maybe.......

What do you mean by "as the above are keen on a trade to melbourne"? Who are the above?

It is clear that the AFL want Roos at Melbourne. I think the sweetener is some form of on field assistance in the draft. Watch this space, if Roos says yes.

Sorry Redleg should have mentioned that the Pearce Hanley paragraph is a whisper I heard.

Kennelly has been in Melbourne though may not even be related to anything MFC.

Things are moving in our favour.

Loving your work GNF. regardless of the outcome I love that the club is being aggressive in its approach with Roos!

Two Irish fellas to the Demons

that would be a nice touch

If Roos is the clear number one target and he's yet to make up his mind, then it's counter-productive to form a committee and interview Choco and Eade because there's a fair chance they'll want the job and then what - "hang on, we'll get back to you". The only reason to hurry is to have the new coach on board to make list management decisions as early as possible. When the worst case scenario is that Craig continues in the role we're in good shape.

I love a good Agathie Christie plot. Hercule might be uttering " Hastings, those little grey cells, they are but piqued ne c'est pas ??"

Like a good thriller there often seems little of not happening in the open. . Most skullduggery by its very nature happens in the shadows and out of the way of prying eyes. There must quite a bit happening behind the scenes and I would be amongst the first gobsmacked if it were plain to view currently.

its a bit like calling an election so far out. You know when things will happen but your somewhat hamstrung to invoke influence too early.

All you can really do is watch and observe, take note of what IS and what ISNT.

What I note. PJ has indeed called Roos. Thats an ice breaker. Roos by all accounts hasnt flat out said NO. He could have and then we wouldnt be in this thread any longer discussing him ( PR )

Why hasnt he said no. Two fold for mine. 1) he doesnt have to now, even if he may later. Leaves door open 2 )He may be a tad curious and interested but why say yes now when all and sundry may bring more toys to the table if thats what the "co conspirators " wish to happen. In others words Roos is simply keeping his powder dry.

Then again theres what is seen publicly and theres the world behind closed doors, third parties and gobetweens.

We have cagey Craig keeping options open.

Fear not fellow Demons you can bet London to a brick that someone who knows someone has had a beer or coffee with both Williams and Eade sounding them out. To do anything more would be "improper" and harder to deny. The League will care nothing for its own rules here as theres a bigger pie to bake. But if we can do things with panache, with discretion , then that would be for the better .

Due to commitments I wont get to any more Casey games and unlikely to travel for a Melbourne one now but Id love to scan the stands in future days at Melbourne/Scorps games for any tell tale signs of "associate' turning up where before they hadnt.

Maybe might get a peak at the Dockers and Doggies games :)

There is always that fun game of who ISNT doing something and in this regard we look to those players or FD personnel who wouldnt normally have any reason not to do the obvious. The danger here is that more often than not its for nothing more than postulation come the contract table. However in amongst this will be genuine cases of subtefuge hoping their actions are camouflaged by the larger chaos of sing/not-sign etc.

This is fun to watch> Not so much a "who's dunnit" as a "who's going to do it " ^_^

The Thick plottens !!

My learned fellow supporter 55 notes another incidence of what is or isnt. This is very much a case of shuffle deckchairs in a manner. PJ has the job of assembling a rejigged FD and delivering a new board with Chairman to boot. Thats a reasonably straight forward issue. Not easy but no 2nd or 3rd games being played out.

As 55 notes in order for a coach to be appointed it would require a selection panel to be created except should Roos accept. So it surprises this viewer not one iota that this hasnt been done with any haste. The club has to be careful it doesnt paint itself into a corner. If Roos was to flat out reject the notion I think you would find a coaching selection panel materialise all but overnight. Until then its not only not required but it would be an impediment as it forces hands, and does so way too early.

Plausible deniability is the tool of trade with much of this. All parties need to be able to explain either their indifference or the lack of action in certain regards. To date PJ is playing our cards well. Most other parties arent showing too much either.

Those that seek Roos . Be heartened there's no movement towards a panel ( just yet ) . A panel when announced ( if ) will signal Roo's disenfranchisement with coming to the Dees

All very intriguing. But why would no selection panel be needed if Roos was appointed? Even if he is the standout candidate, surely you go through the motions. Are you assuming that the AFL just installs him?

Yep it's a no brainer

We could always get GL to interview him to make sure!

I am assuming we just install him.

Carlton didnt need a panel to pick Malthouse.

Freo didnt need a panel to snare Lyon.

I am thinking that we wouldnt need a panel to install Roos.

Sue , I think its a case of Roos or someone. If its Roos then he only need say yes. There would be no there interview or process. Its his for the taking. Ask Vlad, they dont meddle in things!! They dont appoint anoint or such  They just have "influence" He has already been "blessed" If we need the money for Saint Paul then the Footy gods will provide.

Anyone else will be interviewed and selected , they dont have a Golden Ticket !!

and this goes to the point of difference. This is an indicator of direction.

Remember what happened the last time we made an experienced coach go through the "process" - that old coot Sheedy will now hold a grudge against the club to his grave.

Sheeds was in the MFC recruiting zone as a youngster. He was over look back then and has held grudge ever since.

I hear Garry Lyon is interviewing Paul Roos.

No, that would be talking to his manager first. Garry is big on protocols.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
